I can see the ncaa's point but pretty much everyone is using NIL to recruit.

YES! That's the thing that went wrong. If your local Chevy dealer wants to use your name, image or likeness to sell more cars, you should get a percentage. If your school is selling jerseys with your name and number on it, you should get a kick-back.
