Knowing that a trolls ultimate (only) goal is validation through feedback (positive, negative, ANYTHING) why would you respond to their post knowing it will only increase their activity on the board?

For me there are two reasons.

One: the forum used to be a lot better and many good posters were chased away by a few trolls…lead by one career troll we are all familiar with

Two: and I know I shouldn’t, but it is good entertainment to smack some of these clowns around on occasion.
