IU welcomed Grace Berger back after missing eight games, while Geary did not make the trip due to a non-Covid illness. IU opened the game with five straight points by Parrish (2 FTs and a 3), but Parrish would pick up two fouls in the opening 1:35 minutes of the game and head to the bench. IU would have a lead of 12-4 before settling for a lead 20-12 at the end of the 1st period. Berger would hit her first two shots of the game and also get credit for 3 assists and a steal in the 1st period. In the 2nd, IU would quickly take a 28-14 lead with Holmes doing most of the damage on the inside and she already had 12 points early in the 2nd. Parrish picked up her third foul at the 7:05 mark of the period and she would head to the bench for the rest of the half. IU led 40-24 at the half as NW had no answer for Holmes on the inside as she had 18 points on 9 of 12 shooting in the half. Berger didn't show much rust and had good numbers in the half with 8 points, 5 assists, and 2 steals, and no turnovers. IU had an acceptable 6 turnovers in the half to 11 for NW. The only Hoosier with foul trouble at the half was Parrish with 3 quick fouls in the game with no other Hoosier with more than one. In the third, NW pretty much matched IU point for point in the early going before IU went cold from the field and didn't score for 3:35 minutes as NW knocked the lead down to 12 before IU got a FT. NW would get the lead down to 11 before Berger scored to make it a 13-point lead again. IU would lead 56-42 at the end of the 3rd, as NW had their best shooting period of the game, while Holmes would have just one FGA in the period. Kiandra Browne made her first appearance of the season for IU in the 3rd period after having a hand (or wrist?) injury. Garzon picked up three fouls in the 3rd and entered the 4th period with four fouls. In the 4th, IU found the range again and took a 62-44 lead at the 6:38 mark and IU pulled Berger at the under 6-minute mark with IU up by 20 at 66-46. Both teams started substituting with the bench players at the 2:30 mark and IU up by 22.
Holmes had a game high 24 points and 12 rebs, while Berger had a season high 16 points in her return and also had 5 assists and 2 steals with no turnovers, so she didn't show any rust. IU really clanked the 3-ball with 3 of 22 shooting and their FG percentage was a season low of 36.4 pct. Their 11 turnovers on the game were an improvement from recent games.
