Inflation - 40 Year High

The solution no one will try is to move manufacturing back. Welch started offshoring as his pioneering of only focusing on the next quarter's profits. This is to blame for most of our woes today. We voluntarily gave up making stuff here so CEOs could get bigger bonuses. Maybe this disruption will scare some companies into coming back. But we all know that won't happen in any meaningful way.

We have real issues with worker shortages. It gives workers real power in negotiations. We see it playing out nationwide.

For a long time many rested this on Biden's $1200 payment. We see today that the US is critically short of airline pilots. No way people making $100,000 quit there jobs because of a $1200 payment a year ago.

Increased immigration would put a dent in the shortage and inflation. But that is a political nonstarter.

This is BS.

It's only because of the efforts of the Grand Forks citizens fighting this that the federal government got engaged.

It appears Uncle Sam was stonewalled at every turn by the city administration. It also appears the officials insulted their constituents.

No, she was sane with her Covid policy. Not much different than DeWine or Holcomb. What impressed me was how she stood her ground against the militia crazies and the nutters in the legislature. More recently, her AG and SecState have fought off the Trumpistas from both outside and inside the state.
A handi cap moth with one wing would impress you as long as it were a democrat. You are pathetic

China loves to keep energy costs out of the equation. Aluminum(metals)is highly subsidized. The literal choke people out. Including their own workers.
A common dodge used by Fufeng and other “private” Chinese companies is that they are not state-owned and thus, not an instrument of CCP policy.

The reality is that the power wielded by the CCP means there is functionally no difference.

good points.

that said, the reality is that big business and govt are far more connected at the hip in the US as well, than people want to admit.

as for inflation being at a 40 yr high, monopolization and privatization are at a 40 yr high as well.

the connection isn't a coincidence.

monopolization and privatization are far and away the leading drivers of higher prices, which are spun as "inflation", when in actuality are just price gouging due to monopoly market power, rather than being cost driven.

and the higher prices that are largely cost driven, are costs passed on/driven by said price gouging of said monopolies and privatization, and not so much labor cost.
