Focus was on beating the offensive player to the spot with footwork. It just isn't there with Woodson.
You think it has anything to do with major changes to the block/charge rule giving offense the glaring edge? Or do you just ignore that?

It doesn't happen as much because the defensive player no longer gets that call if he moves to the spot after the offensive player plants his lead foot to elevate, regardless if set or not, it's now a foul on the defender.

Also, the defensive player can no longer set up in the circle area or directly under the basket, where most block/charges were called in the past,
