After a dead period, recruiting has picked up the last week with the live period.

Indiana staffers have been on the road constantly and have been in to see prospects in Indiana. Ohio, Georgia, DMV, Florida. We will get to the full list of prospects the staff visited.

Let’s start with the official visit scheduled by top-20 prospect and 2024 five-star Asa Newell.

Newell will be on campus October 21-23. He has his first junior year official visit to Georgia September 23-25.

Newell is going into his first year at Montverde and after the summer he had. Is expected to be a big time player for them this year.

Newell visited Indiana in June for an unofficial visit where he received an offer.

"We had fun. it was a fun visit. It was a very well prepared visit. We toured the facility and campus, took some pictures," Justin Newell, Asa's dad, said. "It was a lot of fun. Probably the best unofficial visit we've had so far."

Indiana is very active in his recruitment and while a long ways to go, should be a team in the mix for the entirety.

Newell and his dad have been open about how Indiana’s use of former Montverde players Halen Hood-Schifino and Malik Reneau will play into the decision making process with IU.

"We're definitely going to be monitoring to see how the season plays out," Justin Newell said. "One thing they (Indiana staff) continued to mention was that the players in Malik and Jalen arrived ready. They were ready, their bodies were ready, basketball IQ ready. More-so than most freshmen when they step on campus. So I'd like to see how the season plays out and how the system works for them."

2024 four-star guard Jaeden mustaf is starting to plan his visits. He has finalized his Florida State official visit.

He has unofficial visits to Georgia and Virginia Tech planned as well.

Indiana, Wake Forest, Pitt and NC State are all programs that should be receiving visits.

Mustaf told TheHoosier.com this week hat Indiana is the one school out of that bunch he’s looking at for an official visit. Dates are being worked out. I would expect an official visit from Mustaf this fall.

2023 four-star forward Arrinten Page announced a top four of Indiana. Miami, USC and Cincinnati earlier this week

No real surprise. Miami is probably the one school that seems to be trailing a bit.

As discussed, the potential to play with teammate and top-5 prospect Isaiah Collier remains an x-factor. USC and Cincinnati in both for Collier and seem to have the best shot to land him in his recruitment. Obviously that could sway Page in some way.

Indiana will be hosting two visitors this weekend — elite 2025 prospects Jalen Haralson and Trent Sisley.

It’s parents weekend this week so that played into the decision.

Both prospects have two more visits scheduled to Indiana already — Hoosier Hysteria and the IU/North Carolina game.

Indiana offered two new prospects this week.

2024 five-star Nas Cunningham. Cunningham is originally from Georgia but plays for Overtime Elite right now. He is the No. 2 overall player in the 2024 class.

IU also offered 2024 wing Tyler Betsey. He was one of the biggest risers this summer.

Betsey plays for New York Renaissance 16u, teammates of five-star and Iu target Dylan Harper on the AAU circuit.

Rivals Rob Cassidy on Betsey:

"Betsy made his mark at this summer's Peach Jam, and the 6-foot-7 wing has continued to build momentum since. The Connecticut-based standout has proven to be one of the better shooters in the 2024 class and comes with the kind of length that isn’t exactly common in prolific long-range threats. He shot 45.2 percent at Peach Jam and showed the ability to create his own shot in the process. His size provides the potential for unlimited defensive versatility and allows him to impact games on the glass."

Indiana also announced a pro day — its first one. It will take place Oct 7 ahead of Hoosier Hysteria. All 30 NBA teams are invited and numerous are expected to attend.
