Since 1939, the first year of the NCAA tournament and the modern era of basketball, IU is the leader in Big Ten championships with 19. OSU is 2nd with 18, followed by MSU(13) and Illinois(12).
IU is also the leader in outright Championships since the 1939 modern era, with 13. OSU is again 2nd with 12. Illinois and Michigan are tied for 3rd with 7 apiece.

IU certainly made the most of the opportunity this year. I am not sure if any fan predicted a B1G championship for IU on December 3rd of this season. The fact that IU won without JBJr all year and without RJ the past two games is even more commendable. Outright champions of the B1G for the 2015-16 season is a great accomplishment.
