I agree the defense would look different and IU would have a chance against the big boys this Fall.

They will play different positions, so West coming won’t affect Perry in terms of playing time.

Perry, West, and Carpenter would be a nice platoon on the interior. I believe West and Carpenter are done after this year so Perry would be a nice addition for the long haul.

Seems like a great setup for Perry. He could rotate in this year with not as much pressure now that West is in the fold. And then an open lane to starter the following year.

It is hard not to when he was higher rated and to think what our coaches would do to get the most out of him, but I get your point about don't count on him.

I trust our new coaches to know the best DTs to bring in. I would have though the Alabama player with 3 years of eligibility and top 150 talent would have been a priority, but the coaches know better than I do.
