Ohio State fan asshole quotient?

Didn’t seem as bad as years past.
A couple young kids running their mouths but nothing around us that was overly obnoxious.

Most of the really vocal and uncouth OSU people wander down from places like Toledo or northern Ohio and have no affiliation with the university. Actually, many attended directional schools or MAC schools if they actually went onto education post high school.
It’s a state pride thing for them, but no affiliation to the university but they sure get their satisfaction living life vicariously through the program.

Two of them got escorted out of the stadium in section 25. Not sure exactly what happened, but it turned into a massive scene between them and a handful of IU fans in the fourth quarter. And the IU fans got to stay, so I assume the OSU guys were the instigators.

Most the young kids they bring along under 12 years old are just as bad. The apple doesn’t fall from the tree. Usually they stick out by noting the degenerate, obnoxious parent like the pied piper leading the way with the little bastards in tow mouthing off.
But, in fairness, I realize that stepping outside one’s trailer court into a public venue is a bit of like being a fish out of water. A culture shock where trailer court rules don’t always play well in the real world.

Lot of OSU fans around us at the Rooftop.

The table next to us was particularly obnoxious, the rest weren’t at all.

Like Ky hoops fans a large % are simply bandwagon wannabes whose personal insecurities are medicated by A-H becoming their identities. They are “better” than you because Ahia st is good.

They actually believe that we want to be them.

As for the question…not all their fans are assholes several stopped by to toast JB when they heard the music. Their usual large crowd was there 10k ish. Not that many near us and they were generally well behaved being actual grads who paid for the seats.

More importantly, our students were great, showed up big. Certainly lost some at half and more at end of Q3. Keep it up and they will be rewarded…hopefully.

What I saw is an 8 win defense and a 3 win offense. So 5 wins. Is that a reward? I’m an optimist but I still think it’s going to be tough going against Maryland and Purdue.

Meh….there are a lot of teams I watched yesterday in the conference who had nowhere near the defense of OSU. Not even close. Purdue’s secondary looked like straight trash yesterday. They were beaten in the defensive backfield like a drum.

The OSU fans around us were very nice. The most obnoxious fan near us was an IU fan who just kept yelling the same three or four comments until he got fed up and left right at the end of the 3rd. After he walked out a few of his buddies were apologizing for him.

I see the numbers, but how did Card look?

Was it @BoilerN who said Purdue Linebackers were say that the D backs would be good this year? Lol

I said a LBer said DB's could cover. He should have specified corners could... safeties were brutal. I was worried about that position and they looked to be on their heals and slow. Walters will square them away. Still have Purdue at 6 wins.
Did you hear the kickoff chant? I did. So might want to put that argument to rest.

So, I had not looked at Purdue's schedule at all until I read your six win comment. After looking at it, I can easily see an 0-7 start. I think your best chance might be next week at Va Tech. If they lose that, I think the 0-7 looks like a pretty strong possibility.

I do not believe there is a strong chance of that. Purdue is just as good as every west team. Which fortunately, isn't great. Psu and um are the great teams. Purdue only gets 1. So 10 winnable games still.

Don’t know but nobody here has seen or heard from our guests today (BoilerN, BCFantastic2020 or destewert). Although, I will give the benefit of the doubt to destewart as he’s like 95 years old and takes afternoon naps. I believe he said he was there at the table when the conference was first formed?

🤦‍♂️

OSU fans behind and next to us were fine yesterday. I think they understand this could be a down year given their QB play. They were complimentary of IU’s defense.
My wife and I worked Event Services for a couple seasons. The OSU experience was enough to suck all the fun out of it. Every time I look at the wheelchair accessible seating area I think about the OSU fans who sat themselves there and refused to leave until security physically removed them.

You have to realize that this is normal etiquette in the state of Ohio at mobile home parks. They don’t know any better. Now, one could make the argument that while these folks aren’t physically handicapped, they have a right to be in the disabled seats as they are generally mentally handicapped out in public.

Youth is wasted on the young … for me this was a 3rd grade Indiana state history discussion

I think ESPN’s Herbie would disagree with

"I need to be in the recruiting department," Clarett told his alma mater. "We to recruit some responsible degenerate type dudes. Dudes who got all their screws but they a little loose. Those type. Ppl who need a little supervision."

Some fans supported Clarett's strange missive.

"He said [a] roster full of law abiding citizens isn't going to cut it," a fan replied.

And years ago there were a hell of a lot more of those 69 IQs coming here for games

I think one important point is what mistakes made are correctable.
If it is scheme understanding, missing an assignment, etc- that can be fixed with film and practice.
Talent or depth issues can’t be improved as much.
Purdue sure scored a lot of points.

As for IU, I was impressed that they set the edge and had outside contain much better as the game wore on where they got burned early on it several times. Maybe at the expense of a pass rush some, but it definitely improves.

Pretty succinct… IU didn’t give up any home run balls, and just a few explosive plays. The defense will contain Terps and Boilers. UL will tell us about the offense. GT put up 28 in a quarter … then was shutout the next quarter.

So did we under Sampson and Crean. Glass stadiums and arenas . . .

Most of the defensive mistakes were scheme and tackling issues imo. Walters seems to agree. Really, saftey play was brutal. Should get the second string center back this week. Relied on a 4th string center most of the game. OL was an injured mess and truthfully needed one more week to get healthy. I'm not terribly worried about Purdue through one week.

They also got torched in the secondary. Reminded me of a Wilson type team. Couldn’t make stops when needed.
