D1Baseball had a signing day primer article by Shooter Hunt who also writes for Prep Baseball. IU was the only cold weather team that got mentioned in the article. As always, the MLB draft will determine who actually shows up on campus.

INDIANA - While many recruiting classes can be stitched to search for “speed up the middle” and left-handed bats, the Hoosier staff, led by head coach Jeff Mercer and recruiting coordinator Derek Simmons, are more than willing to rebuke that philosophy. In bringing in right-handed bats like SS Cooper Malamazian (Nazareth Academy, IL), C Hogan Denny (Mooresville HS, IN), and 3B Grant Hollister (Blue Springs South HS, MO), the staff flexed an impressive ability to identify premium hit-tools. Each looks the part of a mature, professional hitter, and while the hope is that they shine in the B1G before entering professional baseball, area scouts are likely keen to get multiple looks throughout the spring. Unshy of left-handed sluggers, 1B/RHP Jake Hanley (William Mason HS, OH) has the ingredients to blossom into a B1G player of the year thanks to some light-tower power from the left side along with a low-to-mid 90s fastball on the bump. Finally, frontline arms like LHP Brayton Thomas (Bishop Dwenger HS, IN) and RHP Griffin Tobias (Lake Central HS, IN) could ultimately provide an imposing 1-2 tandem on the weekend.
