This is the returners from the 2 deep from the Purdue game, with some thoughts.
ALL CAPS are the starters from the Purdue game:
LT
CRONK
LG
W. MARTIN
Stover
C
LITTLEJOHN
Crider
RG
STEPANIAK
Nworah
RT
KNIGHT
D. Baker
Gotta figure that Linder starts at C.
All of these guys - including Linder - have solid experience.
Newbies Ryan Smith, Caleb Jones (all 6-8, 370 of him!) and Britt Beery take off their redshirts and get in the mix.
IMO this is the group that decides our fate. I like our chances to improve the running game, and help the QBs.
TE
Watercutter
Bonner and Dorris both redshirted. Dorris is a 4th year, and Bonner a third year. Now is thier time, if any. Hendershot played as a true frosh. Personally, because of our RB stable and QB mobility, I’d prefer we turn these guys into run-blocking terrors. But with Ziemba a possible, and Ivy and Bjorson added, who knows?
QB
Ramsey
Ramsey was the eventual preferred starter, but injury changed the plan. His knee seems good in the videos. Tronti and Penix, and a wild card in Reese Taylor, added. Veeerrrry interesting.
RB
ELLISON
Gest
Majette will be back to strength.
Brookins is still banging.
Nelson and Walker.
Maybe Scott.
Gotta like.
WR
Fryfogle
TIMIAN
Gajcak
WHOP
Hale and Westbrook return from injury.
J-Shun?
Reese Taylor?
The Morris move to defense tells me the freshman are expected to impact and the coaches see “enough.”
I think the OL will have to work hard to upgrade though improvement.
I think Ivy and Hendershot upgrade the TE spot pretty quick.
QB will be much better.
RB will be Ellison and a cloud of Committee dust. I hope a newbie explodes to challenge Ellison.
If Hale, Westbrook and Whop do their best, we’ll be great.
