IU, which struggled to get a hit early on in the first two games of the series, has 11 hits through the first four innings. Both Whalen and Mathison have hit 2-run homers each, and Whalen has 3 RBIs on the game so far. Bradley Brehmer is on the mound and has given up 6 hits and one ER so far, with 3Ks and he has hit a batter. IU has scored in every innings so far with four runs each in the 2nd and 4th innings. IU hit the Xavier starter hard and they went to the bullpen for IU's 4th, and IU hit the reliever hard also. Xavier also has three errors on the game so far.

In XU's 5th, it was not a good start for Brehmer as he hit the leadoff hitter, his 2nd hit batter of the game, and the next batter hit a 2-run homer to CF to make it 11-3. He then gave up a single before getting the first out on a flyout. He then got a K for the 2nd out with the runner on 1st stealing 2nd, and a ground out ended the T5th.

In IU's 5th, after two outs, Whalen drew a walk and stole 2nd, but Ellis struck out to end the inning.

In the T6th, it was a good inning for Brehmer as he put them down in order on a K, flyout, and ground out.

In IU's 6th, Xavier goes to their bullpen again for the 2nd time and bring in RHP Dorsey Chatham who has an ERA of over 7.00 in 7.1 IP, and Tibbetts promptly homers to LF to make it 12-3. Pyne struck out and Mathison walked to put a man on with one out. Mathison advanced to 2nd on a WP. Jessee walked to put runners on 1st and 2nd with one out. A DP ended the inning. Everyone in IU's lineup has at least one hit in the game except for Ellis.

In XU's 7th, Brehmer is still on the mound for IU and his PC is at 84 after getting the first batter on a flyout. He got a K for the 2nd out but then walked a batter on a 3-2 count, his first walk of the day. A single put runners on 1st and 2nd with two outs. A flyout ended XU's half of the inning and we are at the 7th inning stretch. Brehmer's PC is at 101 so I don't expect him out on the mound in the 8th.

In the B7th, Doanes walked to leadoff and XU went to their bullpen for a third time, bring in a RHP with a 13.50 ERA in 5.1 IP. The left fielder lost track of a Glasser fly ball and dropped for a single to put runners on 1st and 2nd and no outs. Whalen was then hit by a pitch to load the bases with no outs. Ellis hit into a DP but the runner on 3rd scored to make it 13-3 with two outs and a runner on 3rd. Tibbetts grounded out to end the inning.

In the T8th, as expected, IU goes to the bullpen to bring in RHP David Platt who has just 1 IP so far. Serruto replaced Ellis behind the plate. A slow roller to 3rd, allowed the leadoff man to reach on an infield hit. Platt got the next two batters on flyouts with the runner still on 1st. Platt then ended XU's half of the inning with a K. It was a good inning for Platt in relief.

In IU's 8th, Pyne flied out and Mathison walked to put a man on with one out and a DP ended the inning. I was the 4th DP for XU today.

In the 9th, Luke Hayden replaced Platt to close out the game. A grounded out was followed by a double to put a man on 2nd with one out. A K and a walk put runners on 1st and 2nd with two outs, and a flyout ended the game.

Brehmer went 7 full innings for the win and anytime you can get that out of your starter it's a good outing. We got 13 hits on the game and Glasser was 3 for 4. Whalen was 2 for 2 with a 2-run homer and 3 RBIs. Mathison was 2 for 3 with a 2-run homer, and Tibbetts also hit a homer.

Ryan Kraft will be on the mound for the 2nd game of the double-header as IU tries to go 2-2 in the series.
