IU going to land him or Duke/UK?

Also, you think IU can/will match any NIL deal?

Most have had him to Michigan State for a while now.

But he just blew up recently, it'll be interesting to see if MSU remains in the hunt.

His NIL market is completely different today, than it was even 3 months ago. No clue how that'll play a role, but it'll obviously be a factor in some way.

I would think IU could compete with most anyone in the NIL world.

I will say he either goes to IU or Duke. Just a guess.

I would suspect that IU will have a top 5 payroll consistently. Not many schools will see a player making a million bucks a year. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if Race was making more by himself than all but a few B10 complete rosters.

IU should be etched in stone in the top 5 as far as talent goes with the other programs like KU, Kentucky.

how that translates into success is anyones guess.

what I think will be interesting to see is how long players stick around now. Kentucky has signed tons of talent, but players didn’t stick around. In the meantime we had teams build things through the get old and stay old dynamic . But now that’s all up in the air (as players at some schools will be able to make more money playing professionally in college than going pro).

I’m not sure how it will shake out. A bunch of BT players opted for the NBA and were drafted in the second round. Would they have done the same had they been at IU?

They should be able to compete with most anyone. Duke has the most money amongst the big boys. Their hedge fund alumni are knee deep in NIL, and they are dedicated. UK is probably not far behind because they have a full state. IU would be behind them if both schools really want a recruit.

I’m still not convinced the Duke/UK model is going to win anything big unless Anthony Davis is walking in. You need guys that are in years 2-3 as proven by recent winners.

Hoping no one try’s to argue with me about Duke vs Kelley alums. It’s another league.

With the return of Michigan and Juwan Howard and Indiana with Woodson I think Michigan State may not have the same allure it did in the NIL era. Time will tell. UK and Duke are always real competition in recruiting.
I would be surprised if UK and Duke were the final two s hoops for anyone.
One has an educational reputation and one a no classes money under the table rep

My money is on Kentucky

Agreed. Having 2 nba coaches in the same conference (and regional location) as an aging Izzo is going to hurt MSU imo.

I would like to think that NIL $$ does not sway a players judgement, but am probably a little naive on that. Do remember Woodson saying that if a player is just looking at NIL as their determining factor as to which college he wants, Woodson doesn't want him. Is he just saying that as a sound bite and something different behind closed doors or does he actually mean it as part of the culture he's trying to build. Hopefully the latter but regardless, I hope that as fans, we are blowing the importance of NIL out of proportion.......like when do we ever do that, right?😁😁

I am sure every player has their own priority; however, if you think NIL is not a big time perk, you are being a little naive as you said.

Duke didn't watch him once this last open period. I think it's pretty safe to say they are prioritizing other players.

His NIL deal will be revealed when he signs with UK or Duke
Don't think there's any requirement that it "be revealed". Some supporters (businesses) are looking for publicty and endorsements, but private donors aren't generally going to want their support revealed. Unless there's some requirement, and I don't believe there is, I don't think we generally know details of anyone's NIL arrangements.

it would be extremely interesting to see the various payrolls, especially as there aren’t salary caps like in the pros.

it’s been mentioned on here the eye popping numbers that boosters are paying some of our players. It would be interesting to see how our combined nil deals that boosters are paying our players to play for IU stack up with other schools.

are we the highest in the B10 and if so by how much?

the numbers are so warped that IMHO we could see one team in a conference with boosters shelling out over $10 million / roster playing against a conference rival where the combined payroll is under $50k.

Ill tell you this, I gave all the guys $500-$1,000 last year for basically a few short interviews. None of them would pick up the phone/talk to me if I offered the same this year.

I wonder how other schools compare? Purdue, NU, IL etc? We may see a player making a million bucks guarded by someone making $500.

yeah... you're the one.... are you ever happy about IUBB? If not, why do you torture yourself? This is going to be a glorious year and you won't be able to enjoy it?
He doesn’t know. UK hasn’t offered and Duke is looking at other players. He’s the back-up. The real recruiting will be over in a month or two for most of these guys. Booker will most likely stay close to home in B1G country. Queen is looking like a real possibility too.
