I watched the game on tape delay and didn’t read anything here until after. Holy shit. What a bunch of shitty fans we have. Game 1, beat a big ten team. Clearly multiple Wr who can play and a QB who doesn’t disappear when the game is on the line. Plus a solid defense.
I’m optimistic and excited to see what happens. You all can live in your doom and gloom world but please don’t blast it everywhere. It’s unnecessary.

You’ll have to forgive Bligedy and crew.
They are a bit perturbed because their ballsacks are still chapped from doing the humpty dance up against the concrete wall outside Simon Skojdt Assembly Hall.

Don’t listen to these guys. They don’t even watch football that much. Illinois isn’t a bad team at all. Secondary needs work but on offense that kid #2 is the real deal and will play on Sundays He’ll give teams fits.

Spot on post, IU was much better this opening game than in last year's Iowa game. Any time IU beats a B1G team, with the way this league is, we should be celebrating the win. No one says this team is arrived, we are saying that we see improvement over last season's team. Fans enjoy victories knowing improvement is needed but the effort and talent shown deserve celebration.

It’s not a bunch. It’s about a half dozen. And they’re not “fans.” They’re mostly haters and trolls.

It was great to pull out a victory, especially against a Big Ten opponent.

To be fair to the naysayers, there are some things that were definitely concerning. For example, our run blocking is still suspect. We would like to think it was just due to Illinois being so awesome at run defense but piss poor running has been a staple for IU with Hiller coaching the OL. It was also a head scratcher as to why IU was adamant about rushing straight forward with a line that can't block to save its life and a RB that is more known for speed/agility than power.

Our offense struggled mightily most of the game (save some big plays here and there and that last drive when Illinois was playing prevent defense (which tends to help offenses).

CB had poise when we needed it most and could be a good QB. Needs to work on his accuracy and not sailing his passes high. The WRs looked good (except for their blocking on screen passes). McCullough looked good on defense. The defense did a lot of bending but was good at being opportunistic, which was missing last year.

A very good win for our squad. We have a could games to work on making improvements and find a replacement for Bedford.

Bell said in his presser that they expected UI to be hard to run against. “If we put five in the box they put six, if we put six in the box they put seven, if we put seven in the box they put eight” People that understand football know that that extra guy was there all night and he was making plays. You have to keep putting the ball in there on occasion to keep them honest but IU knew they were going to have to win this game with the pass.

I almost posted this. (Saw the interview)It shows why IU threw longer routs. Chunk plays and 10 yards or more plays wins against Illinois. Iowa will struggle against them. Purdue won’t because they are pass heavy. Then when Illinois had to back off Conner orchestrated a brilliant drive to win.
