It was great to pull out a victory, especially against a Big Ten opponent.
To be fair to the naysayers, there are some things that were definitely concerning. For example, our run blocking is still suspect. We would like to think it was just due to Illinois being so awesome at run defense but piss poor running has been a staple for IU with Hiller coaching the OL. It was also a head scratcher as to why IU was adamant about rushing straight forward with a line that can't block to save its life and a RB that is more known for speed/agility than power.
Our offense struggled mightily most of the game (save some big plays here and there and that last drive when Illinois was playing prevent defense (which tends to help offenses).
CB had poise when we needed it most and could be a good QB. Needs to work on his accuracy and not sailing his passes high. The WRs looked good (except for their blocking on screen passes). McCullough looked good on defense. The defense did a lot of bending but was good at being opportunistic, which was missing last year.
A very good win for our squad. We have a could games to work on making improvements and find a replacement for Bedford.
