wow---brazdeikis joining matthews & poole in the draft

In the good old days, you could see a team develop over a # of years. You could project out a year or two and see what were likely to be the good teams. Now it's all a crap shoot. You cannot predict who is going to be on a roster from year to year. Plus, the NBA sucks.

Love the NBA.
HS and Colleges are their farm talent feeder system.
Best players in the world
I watch IU and the NBA..

Really? Best players in the world (no doubt), but playing at 80% effort most of the time. I do generally see at least 1 play per game that I think is unbelievable, but it doesn't get interesting until the playoffs to me... unless it's the Spurs.

College basketball talent pool keeps weakening. College basketball will never be as good as it was in the past. Not many more 4 year college players that become NBA superstars. The top talent allmost always leave early now. The NBA is getting stronger and college basketball will continue getting weaker.

My ?... how is the NBA getting stronger when these 19 year olds are constantly being infused into the league?

College basketball has predominantly been about a specific program and it's fanbase...and that won't ever change.

It's why we can struggle for damn near 20 some years and still sell out, be on national TV as much as anyone and always get sized up with Duke or UNC on the ESPN Marquee game.

It's why the one and done rule won't mean a damn thing to most college basketball fans.

They follow their team.

I saw maybe one game outside of ours of Duke this year before the tournament.

I would say it's debatable that NBA is getting stronger, but I don't think it's debatable that the college game is suffering.

But, according to the link below, only 18 underclassmen have declared so far for the NBA draft and, so far, none of them are players who were on teams in the Final Four (tm).

Admittedly, it's a little early to say this, because the deadline for early entry in the NBA draft doesn't expire until April 21. But I thought there were a helluva lot of upperclassmen playing in the Final Four (tm) this year and all four of those teams were very strong.

19 year olds with more talent and youthful legs and knees than the aging mid 30s to 40 year old players.

I watched more NBA games this season than college outside of IU, Duke, Virginia. College basketball just does not have the same excitement that it did 20 years ago and before.

No it does not but the NBA is far worse imo. I do not watch the NBA at all.

I know for sure that I haven't watched an NBA game from start to finish this season. The last full game I watched was in the Playoff Series between the Pacers and Cleveland either last year or the year before. Regular Season Games don't hold my interest because one game doesn't mean much to a team's overall standing, and you never know who is going to show up to play on a given night, therefore you have teams with records of 500 or lower making the playoffs some years, The NBA has the greatest athletes of any sport playing their game, but unless they are superstars it doesn't resonate with the casual fan. It's somewhat like the Tiger Woods syndrome in golf. If Tiger is in contention and playing on Saturday on Sunday, it draws the casual fan and increases TV ratings. In the NBA, unless Golden State or Houston, or OKC with Russell Westbrook , or whatever team Lebron James is on at the moment are playing, it doesn't hold interest for the casual fan.

But you watched and were invested in IU.

That's because you are a fan of the program.

One and dones have nothing to do with that. You'll still watch IU after the one and dones are gone because we've only had three in the last decade.

There will still be NBA talent, a lot of it, playing that aren't one and dones.

In the good old days (when I was a kid) we had an out house rather than indoor plumbing, listened to the radio instead of TV, when we had a TV it went off at like 11, and we had 2-3 pairs of clothes for school. A lot of things were but not everything was better in the “good old days”.

I have probably never been more disinterested in college basketball in my life outside of IU and watching Duke or a team with a rising star talent. NBA is full of young stars, and watching Giannis is a treat.

Regular season NBA games tend to do better in the ratings than regular season college basketball games. Over the last 5-10 years NBA ratings have been growing, especially with younger audiences. The league is healthier and more popular than it has ever been and people who have watched for decades will tell you guys have to go harder night in and night out than ever before. How many college guys regularly play harder than Russell Westbrook?

There are some strong anti-NBA biases amongst college fans. However, most of them are simply myths perpetuated by people who admittedly do not watch the league. Me? I can’t wait for the playoffs. Best basketball in the world.

Without question the best basketball by the best basketball players. TNT and TBS udually have a 40 games in 40 nights NBA Tournament marathon once the NBA Playoffs start. I record the games and watch them when i get home.

It seems to me the three point shooting in the NBA is still improving. The max range of jump shots is becoming unbelievable.

...and did you walk 6 miles, uphill both ways, in the May snow, to get to school?
Were there lawns back then, and did you yell at people to get off of yours?

I am like that for every sport.

I watch IU games and small pieces of other games. I watched the Colts and no other NFL games except the Super Bowl. I follow the Pacers, but have not watched more than a quarter of any game this year. I follow St. Louis, but haven't watched more than an inning this year.

This started when my kids were active in high school sports and I didn't have the time to follow sports as I had in the past. I found I didn't miss the games and was able to do much more when I wasn't glued to the TV watching a game that meant nothing to me.

It is like giving up Diet Coke and all sodas. It doesn't take long to break a habit and find better options.

+1, but I especially feel for ufo, watching all those NBA games. Yikes.

It is amazing to me how the bigs go out and shoot them regularly. Perhaps I am old school but when Embid shoots a 3 I can hear Coach Knight yelling at him. LoL. Last night I was watching the Pacer/Hawks game and the Hawks center Lens was shooting 3s. He made at least one.

always difficult to predict how transfers from smaller schools will fare in the B1G but on paper, those two look like good additions to any team. The LIttle Rock kid has some good shooting numbers and the W&M kid has averaged 15ppg the past 2 seasons and apparently knows how to rebound.
