Woody compares his coaching style to Knight's

You can certainly see the similarities in his coaching, but very different demeanor. He changed because he had too. And I think they are positive changes that can be every bit as effective.

I think we all expected improved discipline and a playing time meritocracy when Woody was hired.

As Knight said several times..."kids haven't changed, parents have".
Article mentions Luke Recker. I'll never forget waking up that morning and checking America Online. "Luke Recker transfers from Indiana".. Wow... Gut punch there! I always wondered what that IU team the next two seasons would have looked like. Especially Luke's senior season with Haston and freshman Jared Jeffries...

Lot of coddler parents. Kids need to be whipped, works wonders.

Reading this article pointed something out about IU basketball that will likely happen this following year and has never happened before. Woodson is 5th in scoring with 2061 pts. and TJD should pass him next season and it’ll be the first time an IU player has passed his current coach on the all-time scoring list. Should be a nice moment between TJD and Woody the night it happens.

I would say their defensive philosophy is similar. Also the emphasis on defense is the same. Coach Knight one time said, "If they can't score then they can't win". IU's defense kept them in games this last season when their own offense floundered.

I'm sure Woody will point out those 15 games he missed. vbg

pretty sure Branch had numerous of his players pass his scoring totals, and Lew Watson had a few, (at least 3 or more), as well.

scoring average is a different thing, but more and more games per yr, longer eligibility, 3 point shot, have made for higher and higher totals over time.

that said, i think Schlundt is still 3rd all time in total points, and McGinnis has the highest per game average, and played for McCracken and Watson respectively.

whether Watson passed any of Branch's numbers, i know not.

If TJD has the same season he had last year he’ll pass Schlundt and be 3rd all time. Alford could possibly be caught if he averages 22 a game during the season and IU were to go to the Final Four. He needs 851 pts. to pass Alford.

I remember my second ex-wife's family made such a big deal with lots and lots of birthday presents for her two young daughters from a previous marriage. When it was the nine year old daughter's birthday, the younger daughter, age 7, got just as many presents as the "birthday girl" and it was a lot of gift wrapped boxes...both of them, so the youngest one wouldn't feel left out. I remember thinking at the time it was one of the most ridiculous things I'd seen in awhile. It still is.

My uncle, Dad's older brother, was born on the 4th of July. Dad said he was always pissed he didn't get fireworks on his birthday like Pete did.

is that

Well, at least your dad didn't feel obligated to wear red, white and blue every time it was his birthday.
