BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Despite a comeback effort in the eighth inning, Indiana dropped the first game of a Saturday doubleheader vs. Michigan, 7-3, losing for just the first time at Bart Kaufman Field in 2015 after a 7-0 start.

IU and Michigan will play a second game at Bart Kaufman Field on Saturday before completing the series on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. ET.

Trailing 6-1 entering the eighth inning, the Hoosiers scored a pair of runs on two hits and three errors by Michigan, but left runners on first and second.

Brian Wilhite reached first after being hit by a pitch to lead off the stanza before three straight Wolverine errors injected life into the Hoosiers.

Craig Dedelow, one of two Hoosiers with multiple hits, singled and advanced to second on a throwing error, while Wilhite advanced to third. Michigan forgot to call time, allowing Wilhite to score, tallying U-M's second consecutive error.

Dedelow scored after advancing to third on an error and reaching home on Scott Donley's sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 6-3, but Indiana would strand runners on first and second.

Michigan did the majority of its damage in the top of the second inning, recording five runs on four hits and an error.

Junior LHP Caleb Baragar (0-2) received the loss, accountable for all five runs in the second run.

Junior RHP Evan Bell replaced Baragar in the second frame, pitching a career-high 6.1 innings and tossing a career-best eight strikeouts, doubling his previous high, while giving up just one run in the fifth inning.

GAME NOTES
••• Indiana fell to 17-9 overall and 1-5 in Big Ten play.
