Wisconsin coach just bailed to take the Oregon State job. Wow.*

Re: seems like a downgrade

Strange things afoot in Madison. Apparently it's no destination job.

I dunno . . . 59-0 where you are, plus your OrState predessor . . .

. . . took one of the top jobs in the country. Might be a way out of a dead end job and into a stepping stone job.

Barry Alvarez must be the cause

I just don't see any other way.

Ex-OSU coach Jim Tressel is now the president there

I'm guessing that might have had some influence.

Alvarez Doesn't seem to be the most pleasant guy to work for.

Though Andersen is from out west and spent essentially his entire career there before the Wisconsin job, just might feel more comfortable out there.

Two responses from up here in Wiskyburg...

1. Good! He deserved to be fired after tO$U smackdown....
2. Good! He's no Barry "Help me Barry I got arrested" Alvarez...
2b. Obviously, Barry "Help me Barry I got arrested" Alvarez was not happy with tO$U smackdown...

Should set Wisky back for 2015 and 2016 recruits

unless the recruit has always had a h*rd on for Wisky

Did not set them back in last change, depends on how quick they hire a new guy

Re: seems like a downgrade

Having lived in Wisconsin, my opinion is that if you are the right type of person it is a destination job. Fan base is loyal and supportive, whole state supports UW football (similar to Packers), and the talent is not bad for the system they run.

I would bet they go after Chryst. He left because it looked like Belima was a 20 year lock at coach. Chryst left and Belima suprisingly left after he got married or something. I bet Alverez goes back to his roots and gets someone like Chryst.

Absolutely is...

and they can throw out other excuses to their media friends but in the coaching community....all eyes are on Barry. Why take a job there when you have to ask permission for so much?

Re: Should set Wisky back for 2015 and 2016 recruits

Well, we don't really know. Wisky is a very veteran team with most players predating Andersen. I think there were only 2 major contributors this year from Wisky's last two classes, Clement and Obasih. And both were actually Bielema recruits that decided to stick with their commits despite the coaching change.

They were perhaps set back a bit, but were able to mask it with stockpiled depth

Just like my question when the UM cach was fired, any recruits

that we might flip? Ones that may have had us in the mix before verballing?
