His coming back is a bigger deal than having a grad transfer come in a that spot! Has talent and knows the system.

And bringing him back should go a piece toward dispelling anyone's concerns (even minor ones) that CTA might get a little nepotistic regarding who is going to be playing the mike this year.

Willis coming back is fairly huge. It’s a sign that there is a plan for him because I don’t see him coming back unless he was certain he’d start. I think that Willis is capable of putting it all together, but we simply haven’t seen it yet. He’s played solid, but he really is capable of more. Coach Inge when he was coaching Linebackers was always hopeful of Willis. He was a huge addition at the time when Knorr somewhat flipped him from Wake Forest. The guy can play, and definitely needs to give more. I think that having he and Walton helps. Two 5th year guys. Two guys with ability who just need to put it all together in their last go round.
Depth is still something to watch though. It took a toll on Scales imho never getting a break. I think that it somewhat got to Covington too. I think the depth should be stronger this year and that will also be a boost.
