Why does IU (& other schools?) have "Title Inflation"

Not that this is the end of the world, but when I saw this in article on the new WR coach Henry, who I'm very bullish on, it reminded me of some titles I do wonder about, i.e. to where it can look like all Chiefs, no Indians, or if it can be bad for morale if you don't have one of those extra's in your title?

The quote: "...Henry has his hands full at Indiana as both the wide receivers coach and serving the duties of co-offensive coordinator alongside Walt Bell." Does anyone think Walt Bell is not the final say for the offense and not the true, full OC here? I'm not saying Bell isn't perhaps highly collaborative, especially to his two former NFL coaches on the offensive staff. But I do not think of them as "co-offensive coordinators" and very few people in the media would say that either.

Some more:
Johnson: Assoc Head Coach/RB's
Shelby: Assistant Head Coach/Cornerbacks
Henry: Co-OC/WR (per above)
Hiller: Run Game Coordinator/OL

I don't think there should be a "run game coordinator" if you have a good OC! And if it's not truly a co-OC, why call it that?
What's the difference between an Associate HC and and Assistant HC?

Just killing some time before the kick off in 3 weeks. I guess if they all don't mind it, then sort of who cares. Just seems like a bank with 50 Vice Presidents. :)

*Have great seats for Illinois Friday night game. Want to believe all these great coaches are going to have this team ready to go 1-0!

You just noticed this ?

Literally every school does it and in most cases it's an avenue to both justify a long term raise and help build the staff resumes ..

Being that Tom Allen appears by all accounts to be both an ultra straight shooter And seems to encourage the advancement of his staff I'd be more than a little surprised if the flourishes on our staffs titles don't actually describe Real duties rather than just resume fluff...

And..., anyone who wouldn't actively solicit the thoughts of one of the finest pro receiver coaches in the country would be a fool and I don't take Bell for a fool...

Yep a bunch of BS IMO

Crap! Now I'm going to lose sleep tonight not knowing if we have a passing game coordinator.
