he's a free agent at the end of the season. looks like they are trying to do something in the playoffs makes no sense.
I believe the pacers tried to sign him to a team friendly contract and he said no, so knowing he would walk at the end of the season, they got a couple second round picks. Morris is already moved. Heild had a rough season this year, and his defense is pretty poor. Also, Matherin is starting to come on strong, so heild’s minutes were reducing.
Mathurin better damn well stay healthy and play like his hair’s on fire now. They’ve just mortgaged this season on his ability to step up - in a big way. Sheppard needs to do the same.
I’m glad they brought McBuckets back for some 3-pt firepower, but it’s a risky gamble they took today.

Because they weren’t going to be able to resign him. And because they want Mathurin to get more minutes. They got Doug McDermott, who will replace some of Buddy’s shooting.
I don't know they were playing better before the Siacham trade. got handled easily by g state tonight on a back to back.

Heild and McDermott have played in roughly the same number of games. Buddy has 1842 3s vs McD with 922. Percentages are very close, but it's clear Buddy was a much more accomplished shooter.
