So AOC says a "truth in media" commission is a good idea.

As do all socialist regimes, this one is geting ready to shut down dissent.

So which favorite artist or band will be deemed an "Enemy of the People" first?

I think it will be a individual that is no longer active (single test subject is safer than a group - already dead means they can't protest on their own), a male (Tammy Wynette might be second, but not first), and Southern (can be represented as properly having all the bad "...ist" extensions), and definitly white (can't take out any minority ... yet).

I predict ... ummmm ... Buddy Holly - the second great culture appropriater. Elvis would be too risky, even though dead. Johny Cash was too much for the poor man. Jerry Lee is still alive. Carl Perkins was a little unique. Needs to be a "second wave" guy. And that Holly guy was pure stolen rock-n-roll.And an elitist - too good to ride the bus with the "little people." Old enough that its mostly old people who would object, and she can get Cuomo to put us all in a NYC Covid home for the elderly if we get too feisty. Yep,. I'm gonna bet Buddy Holly will be deep sixed by the Commission on Human Rights Art during the First 5 Year Plan.

I hope like hell it's Kenny Chesney. If so, I want to be the guard who gets to beat the shit out of him every single day. If he can't be deemed an enemy of the state for some reason, I'll take Garth Brooks instead.

Damn.

Bold picks.

But AOC doesn't the balls to do either of those.

Go easy on Kenny. Yes his music is formulaic garbage. But its fun and it makes people happy and it isn't what music is all about?

I have a similar stance on all the pop country coming out of Nashville lately. If you can't have fun throwing back a dozen Bud Lights at a Luke Combs concert the problem is with you not the artist.

I'm old as hell and not adept at linking things, but if you aren't aware of it google a little tune called "Panderin'" by comedian Bo Burnham. Sums up my feelings on today's country music perfectly.

Hadn’t seen it but good stuff.

I'd start with the whole gaither family. Make a statement that christian music wont be tolerated and will be the first to go.

"Truth in news" is a good idea. "Media" is entertainment- or mouth frothing hair pulling torture, depending on which channel is on.

AOC doesn't have any means of turning the U.S. into a "socialist regime", just as Trump supporters failed to move r throw democracy.

We have a good system. AOC is on the extreme side and so is that idiot lady who just said she was going to file an impeachment article against Biden the day he takes office.

I think it might be The Who. That whole 'meet the new boss, same as the old boss' thing isn't going to go over well with the Leftists.

Bob Dylan for sure. He used the “n” word in that Hurricane song back in the 70’s.

Yeah, Ronnie's dead but a few members remain and Johnny (little brother) is still carrying the torch.

- I'm sure AOC doesn't appreciate Skynyrd calling out Governor Wallace (In Birmingham they love their Governor) as his name brings up things about the Southern Democrats that they like to keep hidden.

- Also, Watergate didn't bother Ronnie either.

- He did agree that 'handguns were made for killing, they ain't no good for nothin' else' (Sat Night Special) but, that damn Rebel Flag - that would have to put AOC over the edge and every remaining member would have to go. No more Skynyrd tours.

So you think athletes kneeling is about the anthem being racist? No wonder you all are so triggered you misinterpret everything.

So you think athletes kneeling is about the anthem being racist? No wonder you all are so triggered you misinterpret everything.

Their reason for kneeling depends on who you ask, when you ask them and who is watching. Such are the ever-changing "principles" of the left.

But yes, ONE of the stated reasons for the original kneel (see lefty linky below) is that people believe the lyrics of the Star-Spangled Banner reflect racism and white supremacy (like the modern police treatment of young black males) - especially the part where Key mentioned the "hirelings and slaves" used by the British as soldiers in the War of 1812, as he bragged about the US kicking their ass that night and keeping the star-spangled banner (that would be the US flag for you fellas who slept through high school history) waving til morning.

In short, the National Anthem says - "It's morning in America. Did we make it? Is the flag still there? Can anybody see it? HELL YEAH I CAN. LOOK! THAR SHE BLOWS! SUCK IT ENGLAND! YO! Limey! How you like us NOW? Your guys are all DEAD up there. Their blood has washed the foul stench of your limey King footsteps off our grand land. Again. Those "hirelings and slaves" you sent got their ass kicked. Free and brave patriots fighting for their homeland kicked it. The land of the free and the home of the brave kicked YOUR ass. Again. Let it be that way FOR EVER and THANK GOD for it."

Folks COULD interpret the language as saying "Britian tried to bribe poor folks and ex-slaves into getting killed for them and it didn't work," but prefer to understand 1812 words through 2020 circumstances and get offended by the idea that he disrespected freed slaves and honored the idea of slavery in the process, besoiling the song forever.

Same folks also ignore the stanza added later - honoring the freed slaves ("the millions unchained - who our birthright have gained") - and how it COULD be interpreted as a healing song, a song of equal opportunity and equal rights - celebrating freedom for ALL.

But of course, there's no votes - no money - no power to be gained - in THAT message.
