What do we know about Beloit, WI

Umm, you can get New Glarus beers there. Try Scream, one of the best IIPAs out there. And the brewery is probably less than an hour away.
I travel there for work from time to time. Not a bad place. Not terribly exciting either. But then again neither is where I live. The first time I went there I got confused with the whole south Beloit and Beloit being in different states.
Meh, its a small, quiet/boring (appropriate adjective depends on your perspective) town. But you're about 1/2 hour from Lake Geneva, which is nice place to spend a weekend in the summer, an hour from Madison or Milwaukee, and a reasonable drive from Chicago. So you won't be stranded away from civilization by any means.
You forgot Rockford. Everyone forgets about Rockford.

Lady offered good job at Beloit college. Since IU won't even interview her, or iupui or butler this is her only real option
Sleepy town is right... We're leaving now. Quaint downtown, but not much else. Looks like we'll be leaning heavy on Madison and Rockford for entertainment.
The parks along the river on the north side are really nice though
Rockford does have a couple things going for it at least. The Natural History Museum has the most complete juvenile t-Rex fossil in the country, and a couple of triceratops. We also saw the temporary Megalodon exhibit last year, and the prehistoric sea monsters exhibit with plesiosaurs and mosasaurs this year. My kids and I love that stuff, and it's impressive and surprising to me that a city of Rockford's size gets stuff like that.
There is also a Giordano's, and I had a good lunch with decent beer at the Rockford Brewing Company, so all is not lost.
