While I would really love to see that happen, I wouldn’t put money on that. The good news is, we have a game under our belt and can now learn and adjust. And we got a W. The fact that IL already had a game is a good advantage that we were able to overcome.

Defense was good and Bazelak has a great arm. Oline struggled though. Not winning 9 games with no running game.
At best, it was a close call. At worst the ball definitely moves when he landed and moved the ball into his right hand. It was called incomplete. No way they could overturn that.
They also didn’t even notice that Campers right forearm was down either before or right when he fumbled. Should have been reviewed. Forearm is down.
OL is straight garbage. Team needs some BIG improvements if they want 9 wins. BBBBBBIIIIIGGGGGG
Illinois, Idaho, W Ky, Nebraska, Maryland, Rutgers, Penn State, Purdue are all easily winnable. Need to get one more at home vs Michigan or the game at Cincy.

OL didn't run block, thats for sure but Connor had more time sitting in the pocket than I remember seeing at any time last season. Not to mention that ILL DL was really good.

Right. I think it comes down to, how good is Illinois. At seasons end we may find out Penn State is trash and Illinois is good. Suddenly Purdues loss to PSU becomes a bad loss and this meh win becomes a big win. For now though, I agree.....its Indiana v Illinois. Ha

With Bazelaks arm I think we need to run our offense like Purdue and forgot about running the ball. Use short passes to replace the running game.
I don't think any big ten games are easily winnable for this team. Doesn't mean that it can't happen.
Could be the only thing we’ll be capable of doing. PU was rushing at an average 4.2 yards a carry early v. PSU, but gave up. But today’s IU running game was more like last year’s PU offense.

The offense did not snap the ball from Illinois' red zone until 0:49 left in the game.
They play a prevent defense on the final drive and Bazelak finds wide open receivers after having little success through the air against their regular defense.
Clear TD by Illinois that got overturned.
Our kicker is good. Our defense is scrappy enough to keep us in games. But we can't run the football, and we only had success passing against a prevent defense, apart from the 52 yard TD.
We'll beat Idaho. Probably Western Kentucky too. But I don't know how anyone can comfortably pencil in a W for any other opponent on the schedule after tonight.

I can see using the short pass to establish the run. But I wouldn't bet on it.

You make your own luck. Illinois penalties are on Illinois. IU never quit. Final drive makes this team different than last year. W. Bell will massage the offense to the strengths it has. Something NS never understood. Big difference from last year too.
