What’s the real deal with McCulley?

Was told today by an insider that there was some "friction" when the new staff came in...that has for the most part been eliminated...

But, you waste 2 mos trying to get on the same page as the new crew...with other guys ready to go....

You get lapped.

I think he would be a dangerous weapon for us still. I'd like to see this rectified, ASAP.

I would like to know his 40 time and how it compares to the others. He just doesn’t seem as fast or quick.
He's got to be faster than Sarratt? He can out leap them. He has hands.

Cig said maybe in spring at a presser a ton of things he wanted to see better, to indicate he was down on the depth chart, but then ended with "I'm glad we got him" . So by that I assumed any 'not practicing hard enough' friction was gone. But he isn't playing.

The QB will probably see it done when the B1G gets tough, if he really should be in the rotation more. Rourke will get him if he wants him. That one goal line package that's who he went to at UCLA, but McCulley wasn't quite ready for the defense and the throw was a bit late. Missed it...

I remember there was discussion about him during the game and the sideline reporter, Rhett Lewis an IU guy, said something about him taking care of his other responsibilities on the field a little better and things will be much better regarding his usage and playing time from the coaching staff. I assume blocking and other play responsibilities even when he isn't the primary target. I believe that was what he said/meant but if someone else remembers better please correct me. I am sure everything else others said are factors too but that was a subtle comment during the game.

Passed by Price, Cross. Williams and Cooper. Running 3-4th on depth chart and purely rotational.
Yes Price, Sarrat, Cross, Cooper, Williams, Cooper and Coby must have done more, …
better on the practice field.
The injury may have held him back … I’ll believe coaches decision at this time.
Rourke is completing >70% with the current starters: production rules.

IIRC Cig stroked a pretty big check to pull him back out of the portal. The way things are going there will be a lot of guys looking for a raise after this season.

I think his rotational status develops from poor low energy practice efforts. After getting out of QB responsibilities he felt he could find headlines from game performance easier as a WR and of course Allen was fine with that as it helped him with soft QB situation.
this bunch of coaches don't roll like that, "thankfully".

Was just thinking of his other options last year. Word was McCulley had an offer from Michigan. He could be there, playing every offensive snap and catching no passes. ;)
With their QB production so far, they might have moved him back to QB!! I was at the night game up there in ‘21 when McCulley started after MP and JT had gone down. Was a rough night.

You tell the new staff that I am the man...and they respond...maybe.

Lots of people with "sources" always assuming the worst on any message board. Cignetti indicated during today's presser that McCulley is not 100% yet and they're keeping him on a pitch count to ease him back in. He's been hurt since very early in the FIU game and was firmly in the rotation to start.

He's really 1 of 1 as a red zone target and physical freak. You're crazy if you think he won't be a part of our team's success as he gets healthier and our opponents get tougher.

I recall two targets late from Taven. Both overthrown a bit but one on the sideline he went up and backwards like a trampoline. Came down hard on his shoulder and back but was ok.
