As an Indiana alumni and the self-proclaimed biggest Hoosier Football fan in New York, it is my pleasure to welcome the faithful here. I post sparingly on this board but feel obligated to reach out since I've lived here 6 years and am involved with IU-NYC Alumni Association. The IU-NYC Alumni Association hosts one of the largest weekly viewing parties for IU football and we are ecstatic to participate in The Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium.
I'm still awaiting word from IU Alumni Association on different Hoosier related events in-and-around NYC to celebrate bowl week. It's been mentioned there will be some type of pep rally, tailgate, and Hoosier get-together but details are still unclear. If anyone has information please pass it along as I'd love to join any dinners or activities with the team.
Additionally, I'm happy to organize a gathering for all of us "Peegs insiders" to meet in-person either at the stadium or at some point during the weekend. I routinely read the boards and it'd be nice to put a face w/ the names. Let me know if this is something folks would like and I can help coordinate -- hopefully with Matt in attendance so we can buy him a beer to thank him for all his hard work.
Lastly, feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns relating to NYC hospitality, tourism, activities, and entertainment. The team is staying at The Hilton Midtown which happens to be a very central location near Rockefeller Plaza, 5th Avenue shopping, Central Park, and many great restaurants. In and around that area are plenty of subways which go to Yankee Stadium (about 20 minute commute). Keep in mind this area is very touristy (which might be appealing) but if you're looking for something a bit quieter you can pick a hotel downtown (Soho, Tribeca, or Union Square) or somewhere further uptown like the Upper East Side.
Cannot tell you how pumped the (few) die-hard IU Football fans are!
