Way to Go Romeo!

At least one IU basketball player will get to play for Brad Stevens ;)

(Now watch him get traded after I've put the jinx on him...);):D

I'm not like a lover of the Celtics..
I'm a Pacers fan.
But I did get to hang some with the team after games when Tyler was there.
They do everything with class.
Top four franchise in the NBA.

Top 4? They have 11 more championships than any team not named the Lakers, who also has less.... Who else would you put up there that leaves a question enough to say 4?

Despite all the BS and noise around his time in the program, the kid still represents.

Because I am a true IU fan. He's a good kid, I was at most of his games and he would have had an even better IU career if his thumb injury wasn't so severe. Just read Juwans tweets. You could tell he wasn't near 100%. I'm also glad we had 11 baseball players drafted, and that several football players are still receiving a paycheck from the NFL. What an odd response from a supposed IU fan.

I don't get the infatuation with a kid who played one season, was on a bad team and was not even the leader, and then didn't even play in the post-season. He was about as unsuccessful as an IU McDonald's all-american has ever been at IU in terms of helping the team, and though I do wish him well, I simply don't really care that much about following the situation any further.

He was a blip in history. I care more about the guys who really give everything they have at IU. He was a talent and a nice kid, but that is it. As a true IU fan, I put IU's success above the NBA prospectus. You go to IU to help IU, not to be a stepping stone. If you want to leave and claim what could have been so be it. Just don't expect me to rush out and stand in line the next time he plays the Pacers.

Morgan signed with Utah. I hope he makes it.

Having NBA success is a part of IU basketball preparing student athletes for their career.

Not at the expense of the team. As I have said repeatedly, college athletics are there to make the school look good. You don't major in basketball.

Romeo was selfish, if you ask me. He could have had surgery on his thumb his freshman season and played for the Hoosiers, beginning 2019-2020 and who knows, if money wasn't the most important thing to him, he could have played the 2020-2021 season. But, that would have been too much to ask of a five star player like Romeo.

That’s too much to ask of any player. He was smart.

Yeah, because if you were a kid computer genius, went to IU as a freshman, got into an accident and went into a coma for a few months, then woke up to a multi-million dollar offer from Apple, you wouldn't take it. Instead, you would stay another year, bring positive press to IU, then go.

It sure is easy to say someone else should turn down millions of dollars. Would you have done that? Why shouldn't the money be important to him? The number of years he can make money playing basketball is very limited. The sooner he can start, the better. I think you're the selfish one for even suggesting that he should've waited simply for your entertainment.

Also, if he was truly selfish, he would have gotten the surgery during the season and then still have gone pro.

I don't get how you figure it's an infatuation. I understand your point (but don't agree with it) about a kid being here one season. That said, if he came here and was a 20/10 guy who led us to a 30 win season and another Banner while being a OAD, I doubt you would feel the same way. Isiah Thomas left 2 years early and we don't get a banner in 81 without him. Cody left 2 years early too. Are they not Hoosiers either? And it's not like he came from NYC or California, he's not only an IU Hoosier, but also an Indiana Mr. Basketball, an Indiana State Champion and a lifelong Indiana kid.

If you were the true IU fan you claim to be, you wouldn't begrudge this kid taking the NBA cash due to some arbitrary criteria you made up along the way.

It isn't begrudging, I just don't see the infatuation. And correct, I do feel differently about Eric Gordon, Cody Zeller, even Jay Edwards. I do not talk bad of Romeo, I thought he was a good player and played pretty hard defensively.

Romeo showed up with as much talent as any past Hoosier and he didn't win anything. All the hoopla, videos, 3000 points in high school, autographs, candy stripes, it doesn't matter. He came, he went, and they sucked. Have fun, see you later. That is my opinion on it. I don't begrudge him, I just don't get the adulation and excitement over his tenure. He didn't leave a legacy.

Most Romeo fans were fans for many years before Romeo even came to IU. Romeo was a Indiana State Champion, Indiana Mr. Basketball, Indiana Gatorade Player of the Year, McDonald's HS All-American, Jordan Brand Classic All-American, USA National Team Nike Hoop Summit, USA Junior National Team. Romeo has a court named after him in New Albandy, Indiana. Romeo scored 3,002 points in a legendary Indiana HS career. Romeo patiently signed autographs for hours for fans of all ages. Romeo led IU in scoring in his Freshman season at IU, Romeo was named 2nd Team All-B1G, Romeo was a NBA lottery pick by the Boston Celtics and Brad Stevens in the 2019 NBA Draft.
