Walters Out At PU

They better pay up big time to attract someone decent to that tire fire.
Might I suggest someone?

too bad .. he gets the rest of his $9M paid out over his contract that ends in 2027 ... I'd get fired for that.
Good point and I agree. Still tough on family, especially younger kids that have to relocate and less well paid specialty coaches who may not have great buy outs.
I was really hoping that our new offer to Cig included big money to his staff and my understanding is that it did.

Yep, 23% increase for staff, amazingly almost on par with OSU!

Maybe they could hire some high school coach. But nobody would do that. Except for the place in South Bend.

Most high schools have better talent pools to draw from... They'd never be That desperate... (to consider Walters) Nearly all of them have Junior High School (coaching staffs) along with pew wee league feeder programs... (volunteer coaches)... 😉

Ditto. CKW can get PU off the schneid with his version of basketball on grass like he did at IU. He is affordable and hungry for the Big Time.
Football is a 3 phase game.
Having watched Kevin Wilson teams at IU and the last season at Tulsa, the one consistent theme is that his defenses have been nonexistent. You cannot win that way consistently focusing all your attention on one side of the ball. He’s honestly not HC material. Good for a coordinator role somewhere.

Cignetti appears to be an upper level head coach, KW is not. I was shocked he seemed so lost regarding defense. It never made a link of sense to me.

This is all just par for the course if you go into coaching as a career. Nobody is blindsided by this.

Names that have popped up today are:

Chuck Martin - Miami OH HC
Jason Candle - Toledo HC
Mike Shanahan - Indiana OC
Jeremy Chadwell - Liberty HC
Barry Odom -UNLV HC
Jon Sumrall - Tulane

One of the challenges is that Purdue’s NIL is woefully behind its peers.
