Sports Guy on Marion radio this morning (5/16) said Vijay Blackmon told Coach Miller he was leaving I.U. and was told that he was expected to play this coming year. So now he's staying and looking for time in the rotation, off the bench.

Good deal. IF IU is unable to sign a competent combo grad transfer, Vijay will provide added depth at the guard spot. Not even fpeaugh can manipulate this as a negative....or can he?

Vijay should be able to provide scoring and good defense if the returning guards are struggling with shooting or TO.

Great idea bringing him back. It could strengthen our relationship with his younger brother Jalen Blackmon (2021 class)
6-2” CG
155lbs
Freshman season 22.3-ppg
Sophomore season 26.9-point ppg
He made 207 out of 241 FT (86%)
97 3’s (37%)

“I just go out and play everyday. I'm not too worried about the scoring record," he said. "I'm a point guard so scoring isn't really a big priority for me, I would rather break an assist record or something like that."

I suspect that whatever Jalen ends up doing will have virtually nothing to do with Vijay staying or transferring.

If he's a hard worker and coachable it's a good thing he is staying. Academic All B1G 10 too, keeps the team GPA up, lol

I don't see a kid like Blackmon coming back as anything but a positive. He may want more playing time and the team may need him. His coming back is a good sign...whether he has a little brother...or becomes an influence in game play and rotation...or he has an impact in practice.

I see no negative.

Jalen Blackman is a better shooter than anyone on the current roster.
I watched him at Semistate. Galloway shut him down. He is not near the shooter that his older brother is..

I'm glad for the kid. He will get his chance to play. This also answers the "what will IU do if they don't get ____" panic question. Looks like Archie is going with what he's got. Some will freak out over this. Others see hope.

It is reasonable to think the young players will get better and some may surprise us. Nobody predicted Morgan would become the go-to-guy prior to his Jr. season, but he went from averaging 7 points a game to 16. Sometimes necessity leads to unexpected answers.

As fans, we need to adjust our thinking on how IU can/will win games next season:
* They could surprise if 2 or 3 become markedly better shooters
* Maybe they slow things down and go through the post with DD, TJD, Brunk, Smith and Race hitting the glass, controlling pace and getting to the line
* If healthy, J. Hunter offers some inside-out offense and becomes a mismatch
* Rob makes a jump and becomes a steady threat - Yogi went from 7 to 17 a game as a Soph. That may be a stretch but I wouldn't count it out.
* IU could amp up the D and score out of it. You don't have to score 80+ a game if you hold the other team to 60.

We won't know any of this until the games start, but I'm not ready to write off the season because they didn't get some recruits.

This...he's a walk on (who'll probably get a schollie this year) who is undersized, but can shoot a little and be a good practice player.

He's also a great student and comes from a very influential family out of Indy.

I don't see the issue.

Alright!
Vijay could be the wildcard this year!
Last year there were some things that kept him from being a factor...but this year I expect him to be better than Romeo. If he can get that 8-12 points a game, open things up for others, not turn the ball over, and buy into Archie’s system.
Had Vijay seen the floor more last year I feel fully confident he’s d have surprised people and Archie would have made the tournament.

I cant wait to see Race, Hunter, and Vijay each work their way into the All-Big Ten team next season now that they will see the floor.

Go Archie’s Hoosiers!

Why would anyone bitch about a GD walk on? He's a walk on.

Please point to where anyone said he would play major minutes.

You're being a child at best and a really bad troll at worst.

What are you going to cry about next? Archie's hair??

Why all the negativity? Give the guy time - look for positives this off-season!

Great points - especially the go thru the post. That’s something I certainly could see happening.

 WTF is wrong with you? You cry constantly so at least your name makes sense but it's ridiculous that you call yourself an IU fan. How could anyone enjoy watching a game with you? Do you sit in your mother's basement all alone and watch games while crying into your chocolate milk?

The best part about this comment is that the Purdue fans on GBI took it seriously. What a bunch of dumbasses.
