They had a few chances in the second half to quit but they stayed tough and gave themselves a shot to beat the defending champion. Saying that but I thought our coaches made it difficult to win tonight with their play calling and time management. I thought the offense was to conservative with its play calling even when Sudfeld was in the game. How many times did we run on first and second down leaving us with 3rd and long and that just make sit difficult for the qb to be effective. Even when Diamont was in it would have made it easier to have him pass on first down when it was not expected.

Also on that last drive after the pass to Jones to get it inside the 10 we should have called a timeout and as well after the first down play.

I agree. Lots of fight and heart. Sudfeld wasn't right from the start, and his ankle probably impacted what IU could do. Then they lose Howard, which made things worse.

Plenty of chances to quit and they never did. Great effort.

I just wished they would have not been so conservative with their play calling on 1st and 2nd down.

Think Coach Wilson wanted to keep OSU defense off-balance & that was his thinking for not calling TO.

The OSU fans around us were silent in the first half. They felt like they were going to run the score up on us to solidify their number one ranking. A teenager started the O-H-I-O crap after that first touchdown. I looked at him and said, "I wouldn't brag about taking two and a half quarters to score a touchdown." The OSU fans sitting behind us agreed and told him to sit down.

Our team was mentally tougher than I have seen them in a long time. They didn't lose their heads or their heart when they were down 14. If they can keep this up and use this as a building block, we may have finally turned that corner. I was worried the Diamont came in, and he proved me wrong. He kept his cool and took off when he needed to. This is where he does shine over Sudfeld. He can take off and run, whereas Sudfeld is not much of a runner. The play calling was suspect. As as improved as out O-line is, it still wasn't strong enough to make large holes up the middle, yet we kept calling Redding up the middle on first and second down that went nowhere. Improved play calling is definitely needed.

Proud to be a Hoosier tonight.

We scored 27 points and had a shot to beat the defending national champs with our backup QB and RB. That looks like a pretty well called game to me. It's incredible how so many IU fans know so little about football. I'm no coaching genius but even I know that everything that worked for Zander was set up by those runs up the middle.
