I think there is a significant flaw to this data / analysis. "Residents" does not equal "Voters".The real problem with the unvaccinated are people living in blue cities, that's where we're seeing spikes. The Trumper's living out in the boonies aren't transmitting the virus. The National Review lays this out perfectly.
For example, as of this weekend, 41 percent of New York City residents were not vaccinated. Trump won 22 percent of the vote in NYC.
As convenient as it would be to lay this all at the feet of Tucker, Trump, etc. The numbers just 'aint there boys.
- In Chicago, 43 percent of residents are not vaccinated. Trump carried 24 percent of the vote in Cook County.
- In the city of San Francisco, about a quarter of residents are not vaccinated. Trump carried about 12 percent of the vote in the city last year.
- In Los Angeles County, just under 30 percent of residents are not vaccinated; Trump won 26.8 percent in 2020.
- In Maricopa County, Arizona, which includes Phoenix, 52 percent of residents are not vaccinated; Trump won 48 percent of the vote there in 2020.
- In Harris County, Texas, which includes Houston, about 48 percent are not vaccinated; Trump won 43 percent in that county in 2020.
- In Philadelphia, Pa., about 37 percent of residents are unvaccinated. Trump won 17.9 percent of the vote there in 2020.
- In Multnomah County, which includes Portland, Ore., just under 63 percent have at least one dose, meaning that 37 percent are unvaccinated. Trump won under 18 percent in that county in 2020.
- In Milwaukee County in Wisconsin, 61.6 percent have at least one dose, meaning 38.4 percent are unvaccinated. Trump won 29.4 percent of the vote in 2020.
- Detroit has vaccinated just under 40 percent of its residents; Trump carried 5 percent of the vote in that city.
In particular, "residents" also includes the sub-group of children under the age of 12. For example, from this site (https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/covid/covid-19-data-vaccines.page), yes, 41 percent of New York City is not vaccinated (confirming the author's number), but that is the "all ages" demographic. If you click on the "adults" tab, it drops to 29%. Generally, children under age 12 are going to make up 10 to 15% of the population.
I suspect that is the case in all of the cities that are listed (I'm going out to dinner right now and do not have the time at this moment to check, but I will try later). While this does not necessarily invalidate your conclusion (if we really want to play the blame-game, we would need to have full data of those who voted in the last election and know their vaccination percentages), I suspect that it puts a damper on your assumption that it is an equal percentage of Republicans versus Democrats.
