The batting order is the same as in game 1 except that Brenczewski is the DH in place of Denny. RHP Cole Gilley is on the mound with Stadler behind the plate.

The wind is still strong but it didn't help IU out in the first game.

T1st:

Gilley got the first two batters before giving up a double which did no harm as he got the next batter.

B1st:

Wiggins led off with a ground rule double and went to 3rd on a WP. Taylor Kd and Dickerson grounded out. Hanley singled. Brenczewski was hit by a pitch. Cerny singled to load the bases.

Stadler grounded out with IU getting just one run.

End of 1st: IU 1 USC 0

T2nd:

Gilley gave up a leadoff homer to tie the game at 1-1. He then got a K and an infield pop-up for two outs. Back-to-back singles put runners on the corners with two outs.

USC scored a run on a WP and a runner on 2nd with two outs. A K retired the side.

B2nd:

It's the 8 thru 1 batters up with Malamazian leading off and he singled. Moore singled to put runners at 1st and 2nd with no outs and we are at the top of the order which has not done much today although Wiggins accounted for the lone run to start the game.

Here we go again with Wiggins striking out with two on and no outs and this smells like the first game with IU not being able to get clutch hits or move runners along.

Finally. Taylor singled to score Malamazian to tie the game with runners on 2nd and 3rd and one out.

Dickerson Kd for the 2nd out.

Hanley got a clutch two-out double to score Moore and Taylor to give IU a 4-2 lead.

Brenczewski singled to put runners on the corners with two outs.

Cerny clubbed a three-run, two-out homer to RF to give IU a 7-2 lead and this is what we expected in game 1.

Stadler grounded out to end the inning.

End of 2nd: IU 7 USC 2

T4th:

Gilley gave up a double to the leadoff hitter and Cerny was injured (wrist) on the slide at 2nd. IU's nonchalant in getting the ball back into the infield probably turned that play into the double instead of a single.

A K got the first out which was big with a runner in scoring position. A single scored the run however and there was a runner on 1st and one out.

A flyout got the 2nd out. Gilley then hit a batter to put runners on 1st and 2nd but he got a groundout to retire the side.

B4th:

It was the 2 thru 4 hitters up with Taylor leading off. Taylor singled but Dickerson, who is having a miserable day at the plate, grounded out with Taylor moving to 2B.

Hanley clubbed a two-run homer to RF to give IU a 9-3 lead. Brenczewski grounded out and Cerny flied out to end the inning.

End of 4th: IU 9 USC 3

Gilley gave up a leadoff solo homer. He then got a K and a groundout for two outs. A walk and single put runners on 1st and 2nd and two outs. A single scored a run to make it 9-5 IU with runners at 1st and 2nd and two outs.

A K retired the side.

B5th:

It was the bottom of the order up with Stadler leading off and USC went to the bullpen to bring in LHP Ben Cushnie who has only pitched 1.2 IP and has no stats with an ERA of 0.00 and a WHIP of 0.00.

Stadler walked on four pitches and them Malamazian doubled to put runners on 2nd and 3rd, and it didn't take long for Cushnie to pick up some stats on the season.

Stadler scored on a passed ball with Malamazian taking 3rd and no outs. Moore Kd for the first out.

Wiggins was hit by a pitch to put runners on the corners and one out.

USC went to the bullpen and brought in LHP Dylan Osborne with an ERA of 9.31 and a WHIP of 1.55.

Taylor hit into a FC with Wiggins out at 2nd and Malamazian scoring. There was a runner on 1st and two outs.

Dickerson's struggles at the plate today continued with a flyout to end the inning.

End of 5th: IU 11 USC 5

It's the middle of the order up with Hanley leading off. Hanley grounded out and Brenczewski flied out for two outs.

Cerny doubled to right center with Stadler up and two outs.

Stadler walked on a full count to put runners at 1st and 2nd and two outs.

Haas was back out there to close it out. He got the leadoff hitter on a groundout, but they gave up a double.

Haas then gave up a walk on a full count to put runners at 1st and 2nd and one out.

A lineout to SS got the 2nd out with the runners holding. A full count walk loaded the bases with two outs.

A flyout finally ended the inning and the game.

Final: IU 13 USC 6

At least our bats came alive in this game which was just as windy as the first game. I'm assuming that Ben Grable will be on the mound for the all-important rubber match tomorrow.

IU outhit what was supposed to be weak-hitting USC until they showed up today and managed to get clutch hit after clutch hit. It was IU 15 hits to USC's 13 hits. I guess we have to give credit to the USC starting pitcher in game one where we couldn't take advantage of a strong wind blowing out. IU had seven extra base hits in this game to include five doubles and two homers.

In this game, IU had four multi-hit players.

Cerny - 4 for 5 with a double and homer and 3 RBIs.

Malamazian - 3 for 4 with two doubles and 2 RBIs.

Hanley - 3 for 5 with a double and homer and 4 RBIs.

Taylor - 2 for 5 with 2 RBIs.

Wiggins also had a double.

Gilley got 10 Ks in the game but was responsible for 9 hits to include two doubles and two homers. He gave up 5 earned runs in 5.0 IP. He also had one BB, one WP, and one hit batter.

Holderfield - 2.2 IP with 3 hits and no earned runs, 5 Ks and one BB, and one WP.

Haas - 1.1 IP with one hit which was a double, no earned runs, two BBs and one K.

IU had one error to no errors for USC.
