Updated recruiting notes

Not to be a downer, but 11th out of 14 is hard to deal with.

67, 55, 46, 55, 61, 53

No...those aren’t your magic numbers to this week’s lottery.

That is the Rivals yearly recruiting rankings the past 6 years for a school that has done very well for itself.

Try to guess the school.
Hint: they are in our conference.

Without restarting the unending star ranking debate..., I have two thoughts about this early team recruiting ranking stuff...

1) it's way too early to compare anyone, some teams have 9 recruits others have 19

2) no matter the rankings, there's a reason schools spend big bucks on Strength & Conditioning and Coaching staffs. It's not where high school players start, it's where they finish that matters. Exhibit A: Dan Feeney

The overall rank doesn't mean much right now but the average is a better measure which has IU 9th in the B1G. As 76-1 points out it isn't about where they come in ranked but how well they are developed. Unless you are OSU, PSU, or UM you must bring in good players and develop them into a great team to compete in the B1G. Maryland has had very high ranked classes with their new coach but still haven't had a winning season despite all the 4 star players the past two years.

From an article in today's Tampa Bay Times: "Few teams in the country have recruited Tampa Bay as well as Tom Allen's Hoosiers. Allen will be able to show off his brand in another recruiting hotbed [in Miami on Sept 1]."

Just another indicator of how recruiting is trending up.

If you take out our long snapper and Purdue punter .Indiana 11 recruits .8598 avg .purdue class 18 avg .8557 if we finish strong will be a great class! SSH!!
