The way people are coming up with the names of coaches that IU is talking to is a joke . All the names we are hearing are from people who have a secret source from inside the program . Dolson who is doing the search has not mentioned any coaches by name , and won't until it's time to name the next coach . 99 percent of the people out there that don't read one of the IU websites have no clue how our search is going . I'll start a new rumor to see how it goes . From a secret source "IU was going to hire John Wooden , but he failed his physical ."

What about this one from Rick Bozich. Are these just trial balloons sent out to gauge response, or does Bozich have sources? If he does have sources, then what about the super secret process and the big lid with no leaks. If we believe "the lid" theory, then why did we immediately start vetting Woodson and Matta? Here's the link to full article Bozich

On Saturday the grapevine crackled with discussion about Mike Woodson, the former IU star who works as an assistant coach for the New York Knicks. Woodson is believed to have interviewed with IU athletic director Scott Dolson on Saturday.

On Sunday, a source said a new name moved into the middle of the discussion, a coach with a proven winning record as well as a connection to Stevens.

That would be Matta, who directed Ohio State to a pair of NCAA Final Fours while winning 5 Big Ten regular-season championships and 4 Big Ten Tournaments with the Buckeyes. Matta gave Stevens his first coaching job at Butler in 2000.

I have a good source that Dolson flew on a plane provided by the Pfau family to an airport outside of Louisville on Saturday morning, switched planes and then continued onto NYC for a three hour meeting. At the time, the belief was that this was to somehow meet with Stevens again, however, the Bozich story came out a few hours later suggesting that it was Woodson.

Yeah well unless it’s someone still coaching in the tournament it shouldn’t take weeks if he had a list of names.

If you follow all the boards it's pretty clear we've talked to Stevens, Matta & Woodson. And probably Beilien & Calbert. Not sure about anyone else, which is concerning.

I would hope conversations took place with Beard while he was in town. Musselman’s still coaching, so I could see waiting until his season is over should he be a target. All of this Woodson talk is shocking, to be honest. Aside from being a former player, his resume just doesn’t jump off the page. Would IU seriously target a guy with Woodson’s resume had he not been a former player? An emphatic no! Alford is the only IU guy with solid college head coaching experience. Rabjohns indicated on JMV’s show that some close to the program believe Alford just hasn’t won enough. So, yes, it’s wonderful to include an IU guy in the interview process to appease your donors, ticket holders, former players, etc... But, are you prepared to go all in on an IU guy knowing that if it fails you run the risk of setting it all back an additional 20 years?
