Unbelievable choke by Duke

3rd year coach vs 30 year coach.

Disliked Duke since they bought Teddy Valentine.

Now they own the most awesome, epic choke for the ages. LOL
,
More awesome choke then blowing an 18 point lead to Indiana in the 2002 tourney? Or missing a tying free throw in the same game? Or the missed put back by their All-American to win it?

Up 59-45 with 8:17 left, props to Houston for never giving up. Duke is the better team but they couldn't close. I have no ill will toward Sampson, looking forward to Monday - hope it's a good game.
I really don' t like duke and I have nothing against sampson. Everyone deserves a second change for the most part. Holding grudges is not worth it imo

That was awesome. Anyone think Duke not playing anyone for a 3-monyh stretch hurt them?
Their inexperience is probably as much at fault. Two main scorers and three starters total were freshman - in the 5th year transfer era - and played like it in the last 10 minutes. I can't think of a championship team going back to 2012 UK that were led by freshman. No matter how talented freshman led teams were since, they eventually lose.

That 2012 UK team had soph Lamb and Jones..And a super senior in Darius Miller. That gets lost.

Although, this was not as big of a choke as when IU beat Duke in 2002. That Duke team was filled with experienced seniors and this one is led by freshmen, plus this Houston team is much better than IU’s 2002 team, who was just a 4 seed, if I recall. Therefore, I’d say that 2002 Duke choke was their biggest ever.

We were actually a 5 seed that year.

I’ve been saying it for years: Some people overrate freshmen, as one-and-done rosters routinely demonstrate. In the B1G, this season’s example is obviously Rutgers, who some beat writers predicted would finish in the top half of the conference despite losing their top 7 experienced players to the portal.
