I saw it happen in 75/76 & it wasn’t grades directly. It was failure to attend class, repeatedly. He ended up getting booted & was a very good player.

That's te last one I remembered. Seems like grades now are just overlooked. Guys didn't suddenly all start passing
I remember a co worker telling me DeMarcus Cousins had the math and writing skills of a 3rd grader while at UK and always recieved passing grades in all of his courses. He had to work his ass off to pass one class all the while Cousins got the same passing score for basically doing nothing.

After UNC avoided any issues from their bullshit classes, it was obvious no school has much financial incentive to handicap their program by treating the revenue sports players like real students. The kids should have an incentive, but that's a leading a horse to water kinda situation.

Kent Sterling seems to think his defensive liability outweighs his offensive prowess.
That’s why Kent is a writer/dumb shit and not a coach… The kid is still young and VERY good. This is the exact reason why IU needs a true COLLEGE basketball coach. If you don’t understand what I mean, then you have never experienced what great COLLEGE basketball is about.

WHAAATTT? UNC offered classes that weren’t legit? That can’t be “legal”. Probably why they have now hired a “general manager” for the basketball team.

AJ Ratliff was academically ineligible going into his sr season in 2007-2008 under Sampson. Imagine having that happen going into your senior season...
He’s maybe the only former Indiana Mr Basketball (2004) to drop out of school over grades. He played only 9 games his senior year and all his numbers dropped significantly his first semester. I seem to recall there may have been some mental issues, outside of just not doing your homework or going to class. His 3 1/2 year career average was 5.8 pts/game.

Imagine a coach hanging three banners with kids who all went to class and earned passing grades. Despite all said coach's "character flaws."
