Trump was Trump--he was what I expected him to be. Says a lot of stuff, hard to get a handle on everything, but predictable.

DID NOT LIKE AT ALL a notable portion of the democrats behavior during the speech. Childish in the same or worse manner than Bobo and MGT. This slippery slope of behavior that has been rampant the last 8 years is infantile and stupid, and it is why I can't stand either party.

I did like Elissa Slotkin's rebuttal-- she's pretty good, she's a Michigan chick who can reach across the aisle (and has reached across the aisle as a representative in a fairly conservative leaning district), and attracts people from both sides. I didn't like her at first when she first started running, but met her a couple of times and thought she was more of my moderate view than I had originally thought. I have no idea why the democratic leadership hasn't figured out that someone like her, Bashear or Shapiro should be the face of the democratic party. These old geezers need to step aside.

Bashear or Shapiro would be a return to normalcy. Just read an article saying AOC is who the left want to lead. Who is pushing the squad politics over mod Dems? Hollywood? Media? I just don’t get it

What would it have cost the Democrats to stand and acknowledge DJ Daniel, Laken Riley’s family and the young man who learned of his acceptance to West Point, among others?

It was a stark look at the depths of irrelevance the Democrat Party is approaching. The lack of plain, old-fashioned human decency is astounding. Criticize and boo Trump all you like - he deserves some of it - but, my God, it’s more than not being able to read the room. It’s not being able to read the country.

Maybe Hollywood? Doubt it is the media. AOC is fine if she just keeps to her lane and represents the people of her district (both republicans and democrats--after all, that is what she is supposed to do--which has seemingly been a concept that has been lost for most politicians). The best definition I heard as to how our government is supposed to be run is "majority rule tempered by minority rights". Part of that equation was constitutional protections from state and federal levels. The other part is that any district in America has a republican/democrat split of x percentage points. You should be hearing all voices regardless of who voted for you.

I will be supremely disappointed if the Democrats don't come around on some combination of Bashear, Shapiro, Whitmer or even Polis.

Wouldn't matter... Those sad sick folk and those that support them are so far gone down their bizarre ideological rabbit hole that it appears nothing will ever get them back to the surface...

When you can't even acknowledge or clap for a kid with a brain tumor being Awarded an Honorary job with the Secret Service then you've officially hit rock bottom on the human empathy scale...

Hopefully much of the country watched that last night and will never vote for any of that ilk again....

What do you mean?

Nate Silver called the SOTU (I know it wasn’t technically that) the “Pro Bowl of Politics.”

And I thought that was 100% spot on. They have basically become the annual infomercial for POTUS. They’re totally performative - for him, for them.

I didn’t watch it last night. I haven’t watched one since GWB was in office. And I doubt I ever will again. I’ve seen clips - but even those are just like a highlight reel from a Globetrotters game. Basically, what’s the cleverest dunk I can put down on the Washington Generals on the other side of the aisle?

I like Hickenlooper, always have. I’ve voted for him every time I could. He is totally miscast as a legislator. He needs to be an executive. But . . .charisma is nonexistent, would not be an appealing candidate regardless of his other qualities. Maybe put him on the ticket behind Bashear. But we all know the Democrats will never run two white guys.

I like Jared Polis. He's a different kind of cat. I mean...name me another prominent recent Democratic politician who puts out quotes from Hayek?

You'd see him way more up close than I would, of course. But things like this are at least encouraging.

But we all know the Democrats will never run two white guys.
Clinton/Gore
Gore/Lieberman
Kerry/Edwards
Clinton/Kaine
Obama/Biden x 2
Harris/Walz

Hard to run 2 white guys when they don't get the democratic nomination, and hard to argue that Obama should have done better when he won twice. Hillary, much to my chagrin, won the nomination. So who did she select? A white guy.

No idea why the "two white guys" comment would ever be put pen to paper so to speak

Off topic Murt, but still important. Have you tried one of those new Burger King Melts? They look tasty.

He is saying they will never ever run two white guys together again and they wont. Clinton/Gore was long before the dems went woke. They still had a strong WWC base back then. Now they hate the WWC.

So you should just take away the fact that democrats won the white house from 2008-2016, and 2020-2024? Obviously something worked despite having two non-white guys--in particular given that they lost to Bush twice in a row with..... two white guys. I will bet you a 6 pack of Fullers London Pride Ale that two white guys are running for president on the Dem side in 2028.

This is why the idiots have power. These kinds of people can’t drive people like you away. On the GOP side, millions have said they can’t be a Republican because Trump! Saddest thing I’ve seen in politics.

Trump talks in ways that are not appealing to me. But I gotta give him props for the creativity of the Ukranian mineral deal, The Arctic, and the Panama Canal. Three important issues that weren’t on anybody’s radar.

I think they would run 2 white guys if Buttigieg won the nomination. I doubt it would matter, though. Their last manly man was Tim Waltz🤷🏻‍♂️

Bitch!!! I’ve emailed the top 3 executives there. From my personal email and work email. Not a single reply. Shocking they are going under. Email the owner of this site. He’ll email back in ten minutes. What can we do to improve? Fck BK. I’ve started emailing discovery that BK is ruining my viewing experience

Yes but never two straight white guys ever. They are so into woke it will never ever happen. Everything is about race and gender to them. Trump has proven you don't need to pick someone based on that twice now. The only people who are voting based on that are the liberal suburban wine moms who are obsessed with everything woke so they can go on facebook and get likes for how woke they are.

So party over principle it is then....
Kinda correct. We make our coalitions before elections. Coalitions come after the election in parliamentary systems. In both cases, the art of politics is productive compromise.

I wish the campaigns would be “I will cooperate for you” instead of “I will fight for you.”

I wouldn’t say they’re into woke. Woke is the party currently. Democrats strongest coalitions (their base) now are women and the LGBQT tribe.

And there in lies the problem. They cannot moderate because the white liberal wine moms are a huge voting block for them and they are are all far left wingers who look at everything through race, gender, racism, trans, etc. They simply wont be able to moderate.

I recorded it to watch today. What I've seen in the news is that some Democrats have taken the opposition antics to new levels. Everyone was shocked at the breach of decorum when the Republican Representative shouted, "YOU LIE!" at President Obama, but it's gotten progressively worse on both sides of the aisle since then.

All Democrats. Not Some. I smell Hakeem Jeffries who is not the brightest.

I thought the "U-S-A" chants from the Republicans was embarrassing.

I saw something from one of the Lincoln Project guys who said they just shouldn’t have attended. Empty seats would bother Trump more anyway.

Seriously? Why?

Bet you’re really upset with those “IU sucks” chants at every Purdue sports event, even when Purdue isn’t even competing against IU.
Not the time or place for a U-S-A chant.

The IU SUCKS chant is tradition. Only the woke crowd wants to mess wit that.
