Just glanced at some of the photographs of offensive line recruits from this weekend. The recruits certainly look the part.

In those photographs, Coach Darren Hiller was noticeably trimmer. While it's not tied directly to coaching, I suspect student-athletes have more respect for a coach who models self-discipline.
He's got a weighs (pun intended) to go, but he is moving in the right direction. The "Battle of the Bulge" is not easy to win in a high pressure job. Kudos to him!

I noticed in group pictures he is trimmer and I hope it is a new eating plan that he sticks with for his own health in a pressure job.
A job with long hours where a lot of food is brought in which makes for tough eating. The training buffets are there, hopefully they have the ability to take advantage of some healthier choices. A lot of coaches work out in the facilities, I know TA does.

If Hiller cut out carbs he would be on the right track. Breads, pasta, potatoes, etc., need to be eliminated from this man's diet.

oops didn’t see that rest of the offers and we are in there.

New Pal has turned out a fair amount of top level talent recently. It's a damn shame we can't get guys like this...and the guy who went to MSU. Of course, we did get Charlie. :)

we've recruited indiana hard, but we haven't been real successful with the top tier guys. and the one's we've gotten, (for the most part) haven't panned out.

I have also wondered why we never recruit Chicago very hard. I know it’s competitive up here which is probably the reason but I like to see some of kids I see in games get recruited by us.

We did recruit Chicago kids hard and brought some to IU and they didn't pan out so I am guess the coaches have decided it isn't a place to bring players from. Tevin Coleman is the only one I remember coming from that area of Illinois that did well.

going off on a tangent.

Daughter is going to ASU and was looking at their recruits and found this kid from Indiana. https://247sports.com/player/luke-burgess-46116032/

How are we not recruiting someone like this? Maybe there is a reason but my philosophy would be any decent Indiana OL should be recruited

We did.

He cut his list to 3. The 3 listed as warm are the 3 finalists for him.

He wants to play in the ACC. Your tangent that we didn't recruit him is off base. We're going to offer well over a hundred kids, possibly a couple hundred this year and have a class probably under 20.

We don't get everyone we want.

I followed up stating I messed up and didn’t look further down

IU recruited another kid from New Pal in the same graduating class as Charlie Spegal. Kyle King signed with MSU and redshirted and then entered the transfer portal and signed with Ball State.
The Burgess kid is probably the best of the 3 but he clearly wants to play ACC football. He visited IU and Purdue last year. He sounds like he wants to clearly go south to play football. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in Tallahassee.

Lmao. I bitch about not recruiting the Chicago area and we are now in on Barrett per the front page.

At least you're consistent...

He just committed to Louisville...

Here's hoping he makes it to the League because his degree won't be worth much...
