By the numbers
4 Overtime games in 2016-17 for Indiana, the most in a single season since 1998-99 when the Hoosiers played six.
8 Career double-doubles for Thomas Bryant after 12 points and 11 rebounds at Iowa, his sixth double-double this season.
20 Years since a Hoosier has posted a line equal or better than Robert Johnson’s 19 points, seven assists, six rebounds and five steals at Iowa. The junior is just the eighth player in the country to reach those marks this season.
Double-digit seed
With three regular-season games remaining, Indiana currently sits tied for 12th in the conference with Ohio State, just one game out of a tie for 10th.
The head-to-head meeting to end the regular season between the Hoosiers and Buckeyes could resolve that tie and/or serve as a Big Ten Tournament preview.
Either way, a finish of 12th or worse would mark the worst conference tourney seed in IU’s less than illustrious Big Ten Tournament history.
The only other three times the Hoosiers have had a double-digit seed for the now annual postseason event were the first three seasons under coach Tom Crean.
Not that the seed has mattered much for Indiana, going 1-2 as the top seed and 0-3 as a double-digit seed.
Indiana’s average seed is 5.5, but the most success has come as a 4 seed.
Tyra time
Junior guard Tyra Buss scored 21 points in Indiana’s double overtime win over Iowa on Wednesday night, surpassing 1,500 career points.
Buss now sits 11th on the all-time IU scoring list, just two points behind 10th-place Shirley Bryant and 41 points behind ninth-place Jenny DeMuth. She is also only five points away from setting the IU scoring record through three seasons.
Depending on how many postseason games Indiana plays, Buss has a chance to go as high as seventh (Jamie Braun: 1,603 points) overall by the time this season ends.
That would leave the Mt. Carmel, Ill., native a little over 300 points shy of all-time scoring leader Denise Jackson (1,917) heading into her senior season.

Al Durham, 6-4, G, Lilburn, Ga., 2017: Delivered 17 points and six rebounds in Berkmar’s 69-51 win over South Forsyth in the first round of the Class AAAAAAA state playoffs last Saturday.
Clifton Moore, 6-10, F, Horsham, Pa., 2017: Saw his season come to an end with Hatboro-Horsham’s 55-45 loss to North Penn in the second round of the district playoffs despite scoring 17 points. Had a triple-double of 22 points, 13 rebounds and 10 blocks in a 34-32 double overtime win over Central Bucks West last week to open postseason play.
Justin Smith, 6-7, F, Lincolnshire, Ill., 2017: Posted a season-high 32 points and 16 rebounds in Stevenson’s 76-45 win over Warren in the regular-season finale Wednesday on the heels of 15 points, 11 rebounds, four steals and two blocked shots in a 60-58 overtime win against Morgan Park last Saturday.
WOMEN
Alexis Johnson, 6-1, F, Houston, Texas, 2017: Scored a game-high 22 points on Feb. 12 to pace Kinkaid to a 50-41 win over Houston Christian in the championship game for the Southwest Preparatory Conference, a private school league in Texas and Oklahoma. Kinkaid finished the season 34-3.
Linsey Marchese, 6-4, C, Lawrenceville, Ga., 2017: Helped Archer reach the Class AAAAAAA state quarterfinals with a 72-43 win over Pebblebrook Wednesday night. Individual stats not available. Archer plays Colquitt County Tuesday.
Jaelynn Penn, 5-9, G, Louisville, Ky., 2017: Named as one of 16 finalists for Kentucky Miss Basketball last Friday, when she also scored 24 points, 14 in the second half, of a 72-50 win over Henderson in the finale of the regular season.
Keyanna Warthen, 5-10, G, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., 2017: Poured in a game-high 34 points to go with eight rebounds, four assists and four steals but Fort Lauderdale couldn’t hold a 16-point lead in a 73-69 overtime loss to South Broward in the Florida Class 8A regional final.
Bendu Yeaney, 5-10, G, Portland, Ore., 2017: No stats available.
Grace Berger, 5-10, G, Louisville, Ky., 2018: Took on starring role in 78-72 win over Bullitt East last Friday with 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting, as well as 12 rebounds and five assists.
