Tre Holloman to the portal

Still 3 weeks in the window. Of course that production is back from a 4th place finish that split with IU in a horrible year for us.
It wasn't exactly shabby. Purdue's net ranking was 19, they made it to the sweet 16 and they were coming off a championship game appearance. And they lost a starter the second game of the year.

I am wondering how they will keep people happy next year. Do not see Cluff going there to sit, and he and Renn seem to be similar in that both are back the basket bigs that do not space the floor, Jacobson at 7-2 wants to play in space a little more than the others, but doubt those 3 can play together--then add in Burgess, who is OK, but probably expects his minutes to increase. Cluff looks really good, but seems to be an odd fit, unless a few leave or are happy with less minutes than they had this year

The response when the next one portals... "that makes sense, probably wants to play."

Is that bad? They just won back to back conference championships. Finishing fourth, appearing in the sweet 16, and bringing the entire roster back plus the portals best inside guy seems like they’re in a pretty good spot.

tl;dr - It should work on offense, we'll see on defense. I hope no one else leaves.

I wouldn't be surprised if Burgess redshirts next year. He had some injury issues over the last 12 or so games which is why Berg was playing again. I think it would be smart for him to take the time he needs to get healthy and get stronger. Plus, he'll still get paid during his RS year so it'll be an extra year of getting paid 6 figures before he has to go into the real world.

My current expectations for next year at each spot would roughly be:
5 - Cluff 25 mins, Jacobsen 15 mins
4 - TKR 30 mins, Jacobsen 5 mins; Heidi 5 mins
3 - Loyer 15 mins; Heidi 15 mins; Benter 10 mins
2 - Cox 20 mins; Harris 20 mins
1 - Smith 35 mins; Cox/Harris 5 mins

Cluff and TKR have both shown the ability to hit 3s, though that's not the strength for either one. Maybe Painter and PJ will have them let it fly more often? Cluff seems to be a pretty decent passer so I wouldn't be surprised if they do a fair amount of high-low post-to-post action between Cluff and TKR. Jacobsen is mobile enough to roam the perimeter, and he has enough touch to shoot 3s so you could see Purdue put him at the 4 and Cluff at the 5 for stretches.

Another note, Purdue had a top 10 offensive efficiency this year with Furst at the 4 for large stretches. Literally no one guarded him outside of 10 feet. I love Furst and the hustle he showed this year, but replacing him with a guy who can get 10 boards a game and be any kind of threat on offense is huge for us. Furst was a really good guy to have for switches on defense so we'll have to see how the defense looks with Cluff. It'll be way better with Jacobsen on the court because of his rim protection ability, but Cluff isn't really a rim protector. I'm hoping the better rebounding will lead to fewer second chance possessions for opponents. That's about the only way I see the defense improving from Cluff and TKR playing together.

Well Heidi is out, so that make 4 that have transferred out with Waddel, Berg, Colvin and now Heidie. Granted, 2 of them would not have played much, but the other 2 were their best athletes (or at least 2 of the better ones)
