Hopefully Woody can get a portal guy to at least come to campus and visit. It’s early but doesn’t seem to be going very well. I don’t think IU is a favorite to land anyone that has announced

Recruiting is at least 50% of his job duties. Jimmy's and Joe's > X's and O's. I think the returns are diminishing each year he has coached, and that is extremely concerning. If he is fully dependent on the portal this year...and he is by a country mile....then he has to kill it. The lone recruit may not be ready to play significant minutes. He has to have players who can hit the ground running. IOW....they don' t need a coach as much as they need a facilitator. That may be his strong suit....remains to be seen. Either way....its a high risk strategy....not sustainable at the college level.

Had an in home visit with the kid from Bradley. Being as he's from Bloomington, I suppose an official isn't likely necessary.

Its really no different than last year. They are targeting mostly guards and guards do not want to play in his system. He will probably get a few simply because he has tons of money to give them. He also had more to sell last year as they had just made two straight tournies. After this last season and shooting like 350th in the country on three point attempts guards will pay attention to that kind of stuff.

1 kid is visiting. Pg from EKU

If Woody was an insurance agent....he would be what is known as a "policy peddler". .....and they aren't what you want in an agent and they aren't long for the business. IU needs a coach. We rattle on about "culture"...and "coach" is a huge part of the culture. In fact....he's the shepherd.

Tucker off the bench in case anyone gets tired. What's the problem? We've got this under control.

We should get Bronny James. We need a guard and he can shoot. Woodson could sell it to him that he knows how to develop guys for the NBA. Three guys in the last two years.

Time for another $1 million dollar raise!

Tucker said that's why he's coming... NBA coach and other good coaches on staff can get him ready for the NBA.

I hope he's right. I'm cynical but was glad to hear that opinion of the staff.
He's coming because he was probably offered wayy too much to turn down. Sort of an optics glare that Woodson made sure to have everyone see.. To make up for McNeeley announcing other plans and to cover his behind a little bit. Mike knows he is sinking and sinking fast so he most likely threw a # at Tucker that couldnt be turned down.

Kind of like when Crean knew he was sinking and went out and landed Grant Gelon to try and prove he could still recruit the state.

Point is, if it werent for donors injection of NIL money, Tucker wouldnt be coming to B town.

that backcourt will kill any IU hopes once again. Leal will bring very few points. Better hope for really good point guard and backcourt shooters or IU is sunk again.Plus a huge big.

He's the kind of tough, big bodied guard we don't seem to have too often.
He’s about the same size as X, maybe slightly bigger. He should be an upgrade, though unfortunately just one year and out.

This is his last chance for a big bball payday — our offer will probably be pretty compelling.

Carlyle from Stanford doing two days here mid April. Right now, he's the 3rd highest ranked player in the portal.

We seem to have a decent chance with 6'2" pg Myles Rice out of Washington St. Our players are following him, and Ya Rosemond has some past connection to him. Some guy from the ON3 site says Auburn and IU lead.....
Per every 40M avg 17.9, 3.7 rebs, 4.6 assists, 3.1 TOs, shooting 44% on 2s, 27.5 on 3s, 81% on FTs. Said to be a better 3 pt shooter than his % indicates.

I kind of quit paying attention to the whole who is following who thing after we lost out on fland and queen. They were all following each other also so I dont think that really means much.

I mean we are likely bound to get one or two of these guys we simply have so much money somebody will eventually bite for the coin.

Hope so on the 3pt shooting. Glanced at his game logs and in his last seven regular season games he was 0 for 22 from three. He made 1 of 3 threes in each of his two tourney games.
