I am still learning the ins and out of what the transfer portal process really is. It is not surprising after a coach is terminated that a lot of players evaluate whether they want to remain at that University. The daily Hoosier has a tracking list going on and said that the actual formal period to enter the transfer portal for football is May 1st through May 15th and December 4th to January 2nd.
Can someone clarify for me when players can actually commit that enter the transfer portal. I have read several articles about the number of players that never find a new home at all. It is part of the landscape and may be as important or more important than freshman recruiting now. The maturity and development of these players is typically far more advanced and better data to know if they might help your team.
I guess the actual date we need a coach by is the end of this week to have a chance to retain some of the players in the portal although not all will make a decision immediately.
