TJD is slated in at 26th in first round on nbadraft.net

Being drafted at all likely means going pro. The effort to use right hand or midrange shot seems to have failed so no reason to try another college season

It’ll be worth more than what the NBA offers? Honest question, though tinged with disbelief.
It's in another thread and I can't find it, but the numbers were roughly:

GLeague contract 37k
2 way contract 75k base and could go to 250kish (maybe it was 270) if you play a certain % of NBA games.
Not very many 2nd rounders get a straight NBA contract.

Thanks, hooky. I don’t follow the NBA at all, so I guess I was thinking $1+ million or something!

Me neither. I had no idea prior to reading that post. The 2 way would be worth it, but 37k for G League contract would be a step way down for a kid on scholarship. Sounds like a grind to me. Almost wonder if most are better off going overseas?

Good info. I don’t follow the nba and see only nfl and mlb salaries

Late 2nd round or undrafted. HE HAS DEVELOPED NO MID RANGE SHOT. Sometimes not strong finishing when guard by bigger mobile guys.

2nd rounders don't make much relative to other NBAers (typically the league minimum of around $560,00) and their contracts are not fully guaranteed. I don't know how much TJD would make in NIL money but it may not be best for him to go to the NBA if he is just a 2nd round pick.

If he is out of the league after 1 contract, he would be best served to make sure that 1 contract is a good one rather than just making sure he starts the contract early. Of course, most players will bet on themselves and think they will get a 2nd contract.

If he is 3 years and out, then he can get another year of NIL money and still have his 3 years of NBA money.

I do think he will be a late draft pick! Kid has the potential but is a project! NBA teams Love taking chances on projects! Some stick and some don‘t. TJD is best to play a couple years in the GLeague and learn more from NBA coaches and trainers! If not that, he could play well in Europe while making very good money over there!

That draft site sucks ... quit posting it.
I think their rankings and mock drafts are a bit over the top but do like their individual player analysis. You can always agree or disagree with their analysis but good to compare to other sites.

I prefer the ESPN guys Schmitz and Giovany but they gave more frequent updates on their draft site (draftexpress) before ESPN brought them on board. I guess when you get big bucks you don't have to produce as much but they ramp it up between April and the draft I think.

That is why scouts are drooling over Chet Holmgren even though he weighs about 110 pounds. All they care about is potential.

NBA mimimum contract is around 1M. Just under IIRC, $975K or so.

But slip to the second round and you might get the two way NBA/G-league deal and be under 300K, even with max roster time with the big club. G-league full time contract, only at 37K, is worthless relative to NIL, I would think.

With NIL, I would think the G-league would only be for lower echelon players to prove their worth to an NBA team.
