I ended up having a conflict the night of the Blackberry Smoke/Jamey Johnson show and needed to sell the tickets. They don't let you download them anymore and only give you a mobile ticket that you can't take a pic of, so the only resale option is through their website and they make all the fees on the tickets again if you sell them, despite the fees when you purchased. Anyway, I priced them in the middle/lower scale of what they said they were going for and was really just trying to recoup my expenses and then dropped below that the day before the show to try and sell them. No dice, so I ate about $300 worth of tickets and fees. I am quite certain I could have sold them on my own through stubhub, or FB marketplace or something. Really just leaves a crappy taste in your mouth and I plan to avoid TM/LN in the future to the degree that I can. Just wanted to forewarn you if you are considering their tickets and the only option is a mobile pass, which I believe most are now.

Thanks for letting me vent!

Yea, it's ridiculous. Between that and the excessive fees (convenience my ***), it stinks having to go through sites like those. Not sure stubhub and others are much better.

No, but I think Ticketmaster plays games with selling the tickets and obviously tries to sell the ones they make the most on. Had I listed them on Stubhub, I know I'd have sold a pair and gotten inquires, I've done it often and the seated tix were almost completely sold out. Even if not, and I just totally screwed the pooch on pricing them, it still leaves a bad taste in your mouth when you can't sell the tickets you bought and paid for.

I was told that Ticketmaster will be forgoing initial ticket drops at a specific price and just starting ticket sales on their version of Stubhub/aftermarket sites. This will effectively cut off the second hand market entirely.

It is actually impressive. Ticketmaster has to be one of the most universally hated companies, but they have had complete dominance of this market. No one has come close to competing with them.
I get the performers make their money off shows now, but ticket prices are moronic

It's actually the topic of a feature on NPR this morning (at least hear, from 10-noon) 1A, I think?

Probably not better, but I'd have had more control and it avoids the conflict of interest when they make you sell them on their site, while they are selling others and new tix too. I paid for the stupid things, let me have them!

Below is a rolling stone article about it, in context of Bruce Springsteen tickets. I loved going to live shows when i was younger, now it just seem like a chore. Ticketmaster sux, but they are just one of the many reasons ticket prices are moronic.

I will concur that ticket prices are crazy out of control.

I feel like I have spent a small fortune this summer going to shows.

My 16 year old wants to go see Pitbull on Friday at Deer Creek, so we are. We are taking my nieces.

Not my cup of tea, but whatever, he wants to go, so cool dad points for me.

I had a friend who took her daughter and she actually loved the show. Said he projects a very positive message throughout!

You are not mandated to sell them on the tm resale despite them being digital tix. You can still utilize stub hub or any other reseller. It’s called digital transfer.

I don't think so. It says that you have to pull up the "live" ticket on the mobile app for entry and a picture of the code will not suffice. There was no download or print button and the only option provided was resell, which naturally was on their site. I think it's structured specifically to prevent you from selling elsewhere. Or, I'm just a technology Noob, which is entirely possible too!

You took your 16 year old?

When I was 16 me and by buddies piled into my '60 Chevy Impala sedan and hit concerts in either Indy (Fairgrounds Coliseum) or Lulvull (the old Freedom Hall downtown) most weekends. The only thing my dad cared about was me being back in time to go to school or go to work.

Just turned 16 2 weeks ago.

She really hasn't had time with sports/school/work (been working since turning 15).

How was Pit Bull?

He was awesome.

You were right. The messages he was spreading were really spot on. Live it the moment and not let the moment control you. Also told the youth to put the electronics away because they're missing so much.

The vibe was so beautiful. Definitely would go again, daughter with me or not, he was that good.
