Thursday Night Observations?

So, some of the games are over and some are a half:

• Minny holding their own. Could be tied if not for a Minny fumble at the goal line.
• Khaki Pants and crew - defense looks decent. Ruddock is a liability.
• FIU plays at IU next weekend. They upset UCF on the road. Watch out.
• Western Kentucky with lead on the road at Vandy. Getting ready to score but only 224 total yards for WKU.
• Wake Forest routs Elon and their QB is the real deal. We're in trouble there. Nearly 600 yards of offense.

Ok, but can we play a game first as well? Wake played Elon. It's pretty meaningless. We will likely destroy SIU. We put up 73 points on ISU two years ago, then went 4-7 the rest of the way. The other two teams had nice wins. Let's see how it goes.

He had a similar game against Webber st last year, then generally looked atrocious the rest of the year

Season openers are weird ... #2 TCU nearly upset at Minnie? But these near upsets or even upsets (WKU winning at Vandy? I visited WKU with one of my sons 15 years ago and there were stands on only one side of the field).

Went to the WKU vs Vandy game today. WKU got the win, but it was ugly all around. Vandy had 2 terrible INTs in the endzone, but ran all over WKU all night. The first 3 quarters was some of the worst football I have ever watched, but ended up being a fun 4th. WKU won by tripping up the TE at the goal line when Vandy went for 2 to tie it up.

WKU will be a ballgame, no doubt, but tonight they played some very ugly football. Week 1, so can't take too much from it either way.

The reason UM could run is because Utah is great against the run. They will be able to run the ball in the B10 and they will run it well.

I would bet that Ohio State, MSU and PSU will be pretty stout against the run, too, and that other teams will load up to stop it and make them throw. Rudock has been pretty efficient at Iowa, so last night was a bit unusual, tho it's a new team. But opposing defenses will likely make him beat them.

Wofford? I'm quite familiar with the school, but how did Wofford end up in this thread?

Meant to say Wolford.

Either way, he'll create problems for our Swiss cheese defense.

Let's hope that the cheese has aged a bit and is a bit tougher.

Indeed, QB is their weakness. However Penn State has done nothing to make me think they can beat UM. I would be the least surprised if UM beats Penn St.
