This once great and very powerful fan base is about

to crumble into just another solid fan base here sooner than later. I'm in my 40s and my age group is the last one to understand what IU basketball used to be. People in upper 30s and under will slowly start to drop off their enthusiasm and it will continue to dip from there.

Has to end in April for the better. Please!

At least they won't have to live tortured with the memory of what good basketball actually looked like...

My son is 29. He watched today with me, his grandfather and 2 uncles. On the drive home he asked why we keep expecting them to do something he's never seen them do more than a few times. Pulled the definition of insanity out on me. Little ****er

I am 72, healthy and as obnoxious as hell .... My age group is the last one to understand what IU basketball use to be. I agree about the drop off. I just got home from a table full of IU grads, none of them go to forums ... apathy has set in BIG TIME about IU basketball.

If I close my eyes and listen to Woody I can imagine he's getting ready to sell me a pudd'in pop in between episodes of Fat Albert. Come to mention it, I feel groggy and my butt hurts too.

I have near zero enthusiasm for IU basketball right now. I didn’t watch the game today and frankly just don’t care. I will check scores and may catch a game here or there, but couldn’t care less at this point.

Been a big fan since I was a young kid, and just can’t follow this trash. I Woodson is a terrible coach and a real douche. Can’t wait for him to be gone.

I'm not telling anybody how to be a fan but I will not go to game support a game until Woodson is gone. We deserve better hell in 2008 the team was awful but atleast they tried and had heart.

Bless this guy's heart. Thanks for compiling for Hoosier Nation. @Cavanagh predicts a toxic environment in Assembly Hall and if what we have seen the past couple days continues to play out, I have to agree with him. It's difficult seeing Woodson last the season. Strange times. IU Football is selling out and is a 29 point favorite vs Purdue this weekend and the football team is slated to make the first year of the playoff system. Meanwhile, IUBB is on the brink of having Assembly Hall a third full and booing fans.

I know you've seen it all, but your age group is not the last one to understand. 50's perfectly do as well. 80s to mid 90s. Its crazy thougj because its getting to that point now. Alford's senior season to Bailey's senior season (40s age) was where I started at but definatelty your age to witness all the glory of the 70s and 80s while alresdy being old 😉

I'm overall a positive person and this is probably the worst I've felt about our bball program. But, you know what gives me hope? My God, look at what Cignetti did in one year... with a football team. I'd have never believe a football program could be turned around so quickly, with 80 folks and 22 starters... not counting special teams. Still believe it's the greatest turnaround in D1 history.

If we find the right guy, it can turn quickly and IU still has resources to make us a top tier program. I don't know who that guy is. Is it May, Beard, Pearl, Shrewsberry, Schertz, or any of a dozen names of guys I don't even know or have thought of? I hope that's the focus of our AD: talking to people and analyzing the field out there and finding "the guy". I'm convinced he can turn it around and have us playing better, more enthusiastic bball in a year. Can you imagine being a Lville fan and the change from the last guy to Kelsey? Those guys are out there. Conduct a full and thorough search and get the guy in place who will have us playing better bball in a year.

That's what I don't understand. The admin is treating Woodson as if he inherited a dumpster fire full rebuild job like Crean did. And Crean didn't have the NIL era to help, which is a huge help. But, then again, it's also bush league to cut ties with a coach too quickly.

Good coaches show good play, right away. Because they teach it. Doesn't mean they'll win, still need players, but good ones clearly do a lot more with less.

I don't know enough about basketball to know how we're coached. Just been a fan and played it a lot. Some organized. Just know I have had little to no faith now. Wanted a change before the end of last year. Once in awhile we play a complete game and win against a good team. I hang my hopes on that.

So many of the positive factors about being the IU brand though, effort, class , smart play, demanding teacher, just seem missing. And I care about that as much as winning.

I was reasonably pleased when Coach arrived. He's a legend from when I was not yet a teenager. I thought his NBA coaching resume wasn't shabby. Felt OK with him getting a shot. Love his enthusiasm for his kids when they do well and for the school. So it's a shame.

I'll try to hang in as a fan. Go Hoosiers!

Agree we're in trouble.

IMO, after the 2008 season was worse. We had like one scholly player from the Sampson team returning, and we could only recruit high school players/jucos. Back then top high school player recruitments usually took a year or longer, and we didn't have many leads. We were not paying anyone under the table back then given we were on probation. So grim.

Today we have the NIL, top-5 as we all know. A roster flip is very doable is basketball. We just need an energetic coach that plays a modern system, can make in-game adjustments, and develops all players (not just big men) throughout the year. They can show recruits that they will be showcased and then we show them the NIL offer... easy peasy! Imo there are like 20 coaches that could work pretty well here. Doesn't have to be a big name, we can hopefully turn a talented coach into a big name.

I bought DVDs years ago of the 76, 81 championship games and I could not believe how congested the lane was. Yet the fundamentals were glaring compared to today. The first game I actually remember attending with my dad was to see Walt Bellamy. I still say that 1981 team you watched were the best ever by the end of their year. But there is also something thing to be said undefeated two years in a row in the B1G and one loss in two seasons. I get what you are saying now.

we need to meet sometime and compare IU basketball notes. I have only been in Evansville not quite 4 years, so no Premier Video. I bought these at the Big Red Gift Shop

Not true, though I understand that perspective.

Indiana football has had sellout this year after mostly failure for 137 years.

All it takes is the right leadership to build the program and regain fans.
