This is why lack of shooting will kill you.

Effort and defense is flat awful! Look lazy. Looks like the old Indians of old...no D and horrid shooting. No boxing out and being dominated on the boards

But but but but, we beat this really solid Providence team yesterday by 20. That all carries over right?

Well its early..But TJD..Definitely is the same guy he was last year.
And it's going to be another team that can't shoot pass 17 feet..
Will there be some games we make 4 out 12 probably...

If the shooting woes haven’t been fixed by year four they never will. This is all on Archie and will be his downfall. Zero excuse to be this bad at a basic element of the game.
I hate to say it, but I'll believe Archie is a good offensive coach when I see it. I haven't seen it yet.

There’s no excuse for this happening in year 4.

None. If this becomes the trend again this season, Indiana will have to make a decision.

The decision is that IU can’t afford to buy out Archie’s contract so he will be a zombie coach in year five. That will kill the program.

I saw that Brandon Newman scored 21 today and had 4 threes. I know that they played a terrible team, but you look back on him vs Franklin and wonder if IU didn't get the guy they really needed.

Franklin has not shown to be much of a shooter to this point, but Newman has already shown that he can. Ouch.

Was just thinking this. Newman has the look of a future all big 10 player. Armaan... not so much.
Newman 8/17 on threes this year

Newman was good in the first two games too. He’s been way more effective than most of us thought he’d be. Excited to see him moving forward.

I wanted Newman at the time, specifically for that reason. We lacked shooters, and though they were similarly ranked, he seemed the better shooter, while Franklin the better all-around athlete. Still looks that way!

When’s the last time we had a true shooter
Yogi his Sr year (2016). He was clutch...step back 3 pointers when it counted. We have nothing like that right now. Not even close.

The program is severely lacking some stretch 3/4s who are inside/out players..guys who can hit 3s and also take smaller opponents inside. Players who create matchup problems. I saw TJD get the ball a few times today, free throw line extended (just outside the elbow), with his man sagging off a few feet, and TJD refused to even look up at the basket.

CAM has swung big on a couple such players (Garcia, Kaufman), and missed.

I go back to all our misses and/or bad timing of verbals. Wasn't it the Ron Patterson verbal that caused Aaron Henry to go to MSU?

Yes, and I think CAM wanted him more also. But Franklin was offered, and accepted, while Newman wasn't ready. Another recruiting mistake by CAM, ala Damezi/Henry and Jake F.

Franklin reminds me of Da'Monte Williams at Illinois....ok to have a 6'3"/6'4" defensive specialist if the other 4 starters are studs......

Wrong. Newman was the first to commit and 2 months later Franklin chose IU because he knew he wouldn’t play at Purdue

Idiotic. AF signed 9/6/18. BN signed 9/19/18. Google is your friend. But I doubt you know how to use it. SFU and go away. This is an IU board.
