Third scorer? Phin, Smith, Al or Green?

Green - he should be a consistent scorer for us. The others (Phinisee, Al, Smith) will have their nights and are capable of being 10-15 pt scorers on any given night.

Would really like to have all six scorers to be in the 8+ pts per game with Romeo, Juan, Devonte in the 12-18 range

Second game in a row Smith was pretty graceful through contact.

He shots on his drive are softening up.

That's an additional 4 to 6 points a game for him if true. He must be really studying Romeo. Lol

I think it will be by committee and will depending on matchups. I could see it being Al vs.Wisc and JS OSU just because it looks like the weak spot on the opponent.

Key for me will be IF they do it when the opportunity presents itself

Davis is the most consistent 3rd scorer we have and is also the best low post scoring threat. If he were to start being able to log consistent minutes it will also provide even more space for our perimeter shooters. I hope he becomes that consistent 3rd scoring option because it means he's getting healthier and I think will only make things easier for the other guys on the floor.

A third score is important, but by committee might be better and to have four potential players be the guy is of great importance. Rob, Al, Justin and Devonte, all can be that player on any given night. Then we have De'Ron who can come in and be a dependable scorer in the post for the minutes he plays. Even though scouting reports begin and end with Juwan and Romeo, teams have to guard the other three players on the court. This team will be pretty damn good come March if they get healthy and stay healthy, chemistry on the court is coming around.

I think Smith has the most potential but I’d put Durham right behind him, if he could ever find some consistency.
Agreed. Smith’s outside shot has gotten better and he’s been a tad bit more aggressive when going to the rim. He’s also big and athletic enough to get those put backs after a missed shot.

I agree with Smith on potential. This can not only help now but next season also with no guarantee of an immediate replacement for Morgan.

I believe with Green returning the offense is becoming more diverse. IU was very predictable and safe with the younger guards which allowed pressure defenses to get more aggressive invading passing lanes and over extending going for steals. Green is much more aggressive and forces the defense to back off.

When I first saw the title of this thread, I thought you were including the great R&B singer, Al Green. He was a great scorer too. Oh well.

He also had a restaurant in Indianapolis for a long time. Anyone remember that?

Green, to me, is similar to Verdell Jones in a way. When nothing is going, you need him to generate some baskets. That is a quiver weapon, yes, agreed. But in terms of starters, I like Green coming off the bench as soon as Rob is back.

Not really worried about who starts, I do think DG is important for IU to be successful in conference play and beyond.
