Obviously the main news this week was the commitment of Armaan Franklin.

Overall this is a solid pickup for IU. Franklin is maybe not elite in any one area, but he’s pretty solid across the board. So I don’t know how high his ceiling is, but he could develop into a great role player, someone who’s smart, moves well off the ball, and could be a great contributor alongside a couple studs like a Jerome Hunter/Justin Smith/Trayce Jackson-Davis (?)/Rob Phinisee/Keion Brooks (?).
Now the staff is free to really focus on TJD and Brooks and take shots at some other elite players like Jahmius Ramsey.
Similar to what happened with Aaron Henry last year when Damezi Anderson and Jerome Hunter committed, Brandon Newman is now focusing on other schools.
We’ll have more on Franklin and all this in our preseason magazine which is starting to wrap up and should ship around the first week of October. Take advantage of early free shipping and order here - https://indiana.rivals.com/news/2018-indiana-basketball-preview

A few things to add onto the Franklin news which Jordan covered.
Visits are obviously important during the recruiting process, but Indiana really knocked it out of the park with Franklin before his decision. Franklin was particularly impressed by the skill development the program offers, as well as the chance for playing time if Romeo Langford ends up being one and done.
Another interesting note was that Franklin became quick friends with Langford and Robert Phinisee during the visit. It will be interesting to see if that leads to a domino effect with in-state talent connecting that way.
Team-wise, the majority of the tipoff times and TV designations were announced this week. Only ones left to announce are Marquette on Nov. 14 and Arkansas on Nov. 18.
Overall, 19 of the 31 regular season games will be shown on a FOX Sports property:
- 10 games on BTN
- 6 games on FS1
- 3 games on FOX
FOX Sports properties will broadcast the majority of the games through 2022-23 due to a deal it signed in 2016.

One of Indiana's running back targets will be limited to three games this year after the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) deemed 3-star Knowledge McDaniel occasionally staying with a Braden River High booster an impermissible benefit, per this story from the Sarasota (Fla.) Herald-Tribune.
The FHSAA panel's decision is actually an upgrade, considering the organization had originally chosen to suspended for 365 days on Aug. 8. Still, he only gets to play in non-district games and is ineligible for postseason play, which means his senior season will be limited to tonight's home game vs. Manatee, Oct. 5 at home against Booker and in the regular season finale Nov. 2 at home against St. Petersburg.
This has the potential to impact his recruitment with Indiana and several other schools, so it's worth monitoring.
Additionally, all signs point to Indiana being in great shape with 2019 4-star Merrillville (Ind.) Andrean linebacker Cam Williams. Hearing that his friends are Indiana fans and are constantly in his ear about IU. Mentioned that when he was on his visit this summer and got all dressed up in the uniform and took pictures with the family that it made a huge impression on him, and he shows those same pictures to people often. At the same time, also hearing that Ohio State is his dream school and if he does get an offer from the Buckeyes, it would shut down his recruitment. For now, though, his recruitment remains wide open.
To wrap things up, here's who we have confirmed for official and unofficial visits to Bloomington for Indiana's home-opener vs. Virginia.
