The Dem candidate in 2028 for president AOC. Book it

Below is a perfect example of why MAGA can't be the long-term future of the Republican party - absolutism. By "Democrats" the mean everyone that isn't a Trump loyalist or backing every MAGA policy.

The Republican party needs to be bigger and it'll require a bit of that dirty word "diversity" to be bigger, otherwise the Democrats will dominate as they did in Congress for decades.
What in gods name are you talking about? Trump opened up the Republican Party to entirely new voting blocs. He’s winning over labor, Hispanics, etc.

The party today is as racially and politically diverse as it’s ever been.

What is that image? Something you found on Facebook? Is there a reason we should grant it some kind of importance?

Well, I'm hoping that MAGA, especially MAGA culture, fades in the party and that a strong non-MAGA Republican runs and wins the Republican primary and Presidency. We have some good Republican Governors on the bench.
Honestly, it'd be nice and refreshing to see both parties run non-fringe grownups in '28.

If the two parties nominated people like Beshear and Yonkin or Shapiro and Kemp, I'm not sure what the MAGA faction would do. Probably storm the Capitol again.

He's losing Hispanics pretty fast

I think it's unlikely that any of those 4 people will lead a presidential ticket in 2028. Of them, I'd guess that Shapiro is the most likely (and also the one I'd most like to see Dems nominate). But the winds aren't blowing that way, IMO.

What the country really needs is somebody who's willing to confront the reality of our entitlement funding crisis -- and to do so with action, not simply creating a bipartisan blue ribbon commission to craft a set of recommendations.

You don't know the difference between opinions and fact. You've demonstrated that repeatedly because . . . you're an idiot. I really don't want to converse with you so move along little one.
Trump is winning more of the labor vote, fact. Trump had near record numbers with Hispanics, fact.

This broad coalition you advocate for is happening, you’ve just decided to recuse yourself.

Look in the mirror you crotchety old man. People like YOU are the obstacle to Republican Party unity.

Considering that it's just short of hyperbole to say that they're at risk of being stopped and mistakenly deported, it's hard to imagine why.

It shouldn't come as any surprise that Trump has been aggressive with deportation. In fact, I'd say it was probably #1 on the list of reasons he won again.

Anybody who voted for Trump last year but has now soured on him because he's deporting a lot of illegal immigrants can't be very bright.

I actually think it's more likely for the Democrats to run some combination of Beshear, Shapiro, Moore, Polis and/or maybe Whitmer than it is the Republicans run a non-MAGA adjacent candidate in 2028.

The Democrats have a void in party leadership right now, but I'm not so sure that's a bad thing. Where we are after the midterms will be telling. The current Dems taking up airspace now will need to get in line with a more sensible nominee, but they're not going to be the flag bearer in '28, in my opinion.

I think that's why there is an appetite for a successful multi-term governor from a purple state to run.

Looks like she's starting to fill out a little bit. Might need to fight oligarchy by cutting back on those expensive DC dinners and wine.
That would make her an even better candidate for all of the single, old, childless cat ladies that are the primary base of the party. Nothing to be jealous of, & one of them. May need to get some colored streaks in her hair though…

I totally agree. I think it's the ham-fisted way he's going about it that is turning people off. To your point though, anyone who expected Trump and Tom f*$king Homan to handle immigration efficiently - or even entirely legally - wasn't being realistic.

You’re free to place me on ignore, but if I see falsehoods, I will point them out.
There you go. You can't help yourself. Idiot, I was pointing out that MAGA can't stand non-MAGA elements of the Republican party. Not fricking hispanics or whatever you automatically think of as diversity because you're a simpleton. MAGA can't stand diversity of opinions and policies. That was the point of the MAGA's meme. Period. Now stop responding to me. Just STFU.

Any MAGA purity test you’re attributing to the Republican Party doesn’t seem to have any basis in reality. You have libertarian tech bros and lifelong pro-labor democrats coming in and out of the White House daily. You have people like myself who is just a smidge to the left of an Anarcho-capitalist and also union employees dependent on Medicare and social security. Hawks like Rubio and Walz and near isolationists like Gabbard and Vance.

Don’t worry so much about what people are saying online. It’s not real life.

You think? Well, hopefully you're right.

But I'd be careful about that "appetite" part. Fixing the problem is going to require pissing off pretty much everybody. I've long thought that it would take a martyrial president....and quite a few equally selfless members of Congress.

IMO, there's no appetite to fix entitlements at all. That's why candidates keep swearing to leave them alone...despite leaving them alone being the most surefire way to destroy them. I think most people shrug their shoulders at it and figure the problems will either never arise or be taken care by somebody else.

That MAGA attitude represented in that meme exists right here on the WC. Just move along, I don't want to talk to you no more, you empty-headed animal food trough wiper! I fart in your general direction! Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!

Are you talking about the case of Abrego Garcia...or just in general?

Because, in general, I don't think there's a way to beef up deportations that wouldn't come across as ham-fisted. The people here unlawfully don't want to leave and usually make some effort to evade detection and capture -- or to come up with some other rationale why they should be allowed to stay.

The Abrego Garcia case was certainly ham-fisted -- in a procedural sense. I don't think most people have any issues with sending violent gang members to El Salvador. But I do think most people expect it to be done properly.

So because Dbm and maybe some others are exclusionary, you feel you no longer have a place in the Republican Party?

You have to value yourself more and stop being so worried about the internet.

You forgot the previous quote!

"You don't frighten us, English pig-dogs! Go and boil your bottom, sons of a silly person. I blow my nose at you, so-called Arthur King, you and all your silly English k-nnnnniggets."

LOL! You think I care what you think about anything? I think I've made it abundantly clear that I don't.

I didn't forget it - that didn't fit. :) Love the movie and might just watch that this week.

It's likely we will need a total fiscal collapse where we all suffer to have a reset of some sort. Problem is what would come out on the other end. The parties seem set on testing the Cloward-Piven strategy.

Never ever ever going to happen. The closest the dems could get is a trump type guy on their side getting the dem nomination. Too much money and power in the two parties for a third party to ever win. The problem is the dems are now so far left a populist moderate type could never get the nomination.

I doubt it will take the form of a major catastrophe. I’m thinking more like what Japan has experienced over the past 30 years - stagnant growth, etc.

Jay Powell recently said that the current debt situation is manageable - but that its path is not..

I said Trump was “winning over Hispanics”. An obvious reference to the previous election. Or at least I would have thought so.

You take a snapshot poll to play a semantic game.

You’re unserious.

The election was 6 months ago. Things change. If you had said he won over Hispanics, there would have been no argument. He's losing support at the moment, which is what we have to go on.

Your phrasing sucks. Be more precise next time.
